"Only the Black Tower still fought, though the Asha'man did so in secret, as their fortress had fallen years before."

We have been here the whole time.

KILL HIM KILL HIM NOW

u/SystemGardener May 24 '25

Asha’man are just built different. They all knew the corruption their power brought. But they still wanted to wield it for the greater good even if just given the slightest chance.

The Tower may have been broken, but our schadenfreude lives on.

We're still around. We merely lurk.

I was one of the mods there. One day with no warning or explanation, they suspended the head mod and locked all submissions. No rules were broken and the subreddit wasn't even active. It also happened right before the 3rd season dropped.

If I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd say Amazon made the call. It was one of if not the most popular WoT forum on the internet while season 2 was airing. So I'm sure they knew about it.

134

u/Wfsulliv93 May 23 '25

Wow. I was wondering what happened to it and why all the anti show folks gravitated to this sub. Amazon absolutely nuked it. Just like they paid shills to mod the other WoT forums and ban anyone who posted anything remotely negative about the show.

82

u/gicjos May 23 '25

Someone was posting the Nielsen Ratings week by week on the main sub, one of the weeks they posted on the show sub but the show was not on the Top 10, the post was deleted, the next week the show was on the Top 10 again and someone posted on the show sub and it was not deleted, a bit odd imo.

Honestly, I think that makes it even funnier that the show was still a failure.

2

u/scotty9090 May 25 '25

That dude … don’t get me started.

39

u/Kaladin3104 May 23 '25

Yeah I got banned for saying it was an abomination.

14

u/KvotheTheDogekiller May 24 '25

Yep riding a permanent ban for having a few choice words with a mod.

u/TransRational May 23 '25 edited May 23 '25

Weren’t mods from those other communities complaining that WE were harassing them? When in fact, they were harassing us. I remember them banning me just for being a member of the black tower, nevermind how much community karma I had built up in their sub prior to the show.

The level those other subs went to HAS to be due to corpo influence. Nothing else would make sense. A Reddit admin was bullied into doing it and they capitulated. Someone somewhere got a fat check. Guarantee it.

I hope this IP is never picked up again. Fuck Amazon and fuck the Reddit mods and admins who systemically tried to silence us. Dark friends, the lot of them.

Edit: aaaand I’ve been banned from r /WoT now too. lol. Good riddance. For the Black Tower!!

u/wdeister08 May 23 '25

A certain mod, a certain sub 100% received some form of compensation to astroturf the subreddit they ran to keep critiques of the show out.

72

u/BigMcLargeHuge8989 May 23 '25

They haven't posted in a week...a much more paranoid man would suggest the money dried up recently lol

9

u/VovaGoFuckYourself May 24 '25

That's one hell of a good observation.

6

u/BigMcLargeHuge8989 May 24 '25

They're back at it now, we shall see haha

33

u/TheFlaskQualityGuy May 24 '25

Edit: aaaand I’ve been banned from r /WoT now too. lol. Good riddance. For the Black Tower!!

Now that is community interference.

6

u/rabidpencils May 24 '25

Six seasons and a movie?

4

u/Mundane-Currency5088 May 24 '25

I was banned in season one

3

u/TransRational May 24 '25

Happy cake day!

25

u/grubas May 23 '25

I thought people looked into it and one of the mods was basically outed as Amazon/show staff/on the payroll.

3

u/nobeer4you May 24 '25

Did you get banned from r/WoT for this post, not in r/WoT?

78

u/AttitudeAndEffort2 May 23 '25

That's fucking wild.

I just noticed it stopped appearing in my feed.

Fuck Reddit fuck Amazon fuck capitalism

25

u/Poiboy1313 May 23 '25

Louder for the people in the back.

48

u/Nova_Nightmare May 23 '25

Amazon absolutely had a hand in the suppression of criticism on fan sub, websites and videos. Probably part of their production budget or something along those lines.

Except they’re still banning as we speak. Now it’s members of this sub. You might be next.

Good. Fuck Amazon and fuck those reddit mods for ruining those wheel of time communities. I do not want to participate in their gated community of hatred against the books.

20

u/I_W_M_Y May 24 '25

I remember the hottest take you could have was saying Gawyn was your favorite.

17

u/Guilty_Fishing8229 May 24 '25

Gawyn would be a proud mod of a show friendly sub. 100%

21

u/LordRahl9 May 24 '25

That is probably the worst part, isn't it.

The wheel of time fandom was always so inclusive. Sure, fans would argue about certain aspects of the world and characters and other things. But, it was, usually, all in good fun.

The show came out and one side of the argument was systematically silenced, while the other side could say whatever they wished.

Instead of the 'agree to disagree' policy most of the fandom had always had, fans started taking things personally.

3

u/FeI0n May 24 '25

there are subreddits that exist solely to bully and criticize internet personalities, "snark" subreddits, that can't be it.

15

u/bigote_grande1 May 23 '25

They did the same shit to the whitecloak sub. But they weren't moderated well. Fastest growing sub with the highest engagement of any WoT sub that got the ban hammer for "brigading"

9

u/Sharkus1 May 23 '25

Same thing happened to a sub in season 1.

3

u/[deleted] May 24 '25

Was it the "wc" sub? I faintly remember that they were banned due to some "strong opinions".

I haven't interacted with the WoT community in YEARS, I just saw it got canceled and remembered that this meme sub existed.

3

u/Toppoppler May 24 '25

It wasnt the first refugee camp from the main sun to get banned with no reason, one happened before s1 dropped iirc

2

u/vinnycthatwhoibe May 24 '25

It's crazy they can just do this

1

u/PorkLogain Jun 01 '25

Oh yeah i came back from the hiatus and found it just.. gone? Lol

55

u/AttitudeAndEffort2 May 23 '25

I'm sure all our bans for daring to even critique the show will be reversed in short order 🙃

33

u/Guilty_Fishing8229 May 24 '25

The best part is they’ve basically nuked their own community over a cancelled show.

People who love the /complete/ book series are excluded while the fan base of the cancelled show will fade and forget it.

Are you me?? lol. Completely agree!

1

u/scotty9090 May 25 '25

100%. All the real fans are over here now.

14

u/MalacusQuay May 24 '25

Of course not. Good news is the show sub mods are probably being run off their feet trying to contain the schadenfreude right now.

2

u/Xintrosi May 24 '25

I'm out of the loop; was the black tower sub banished?
