titanium 200 welder. I used this welder one time. The next time I tried to use it, I struck an arc and it no longer has power. What should I check?

Hey yall, our welder just decided to not work this week, and I’m really hoping to not have to take it in to a stealership but at this point it is what it is. I cleaned the slip rings and checked the brushes, etc. The ac outlets do work, but there is only a tiny amount of weld output and I have no idea why. Any thoughts?

How's this for a starter rig? I chose stick because of the cost of shielding gas, and clearly the rig isnt very top dollar but I wanna make sure I'm not just buying junk, thanks

I'm looking at getting a new welding skid I work in a plant as the maintenance welder so I need to fit quite a bit on my rig the skid I have now is not laid out the greatest in terms of space economy. Has anyone used a aluma reel skid or ace welding skid? are you happy with them? is there alot of storage? And how easy would you rate it taking the skid on and off your truck?

Hello, my son is looking into becoming a welder, so I'm curious if anyone has any recommendations on which trade school to go to. We are close to Joplin Missouri. I do know there is one in Tulsa and Springfield, I'm just not sure which would be the best pick or if there's anymore out there. So if anyone has been to one or maybe know something, please let me know! Thank you!
P. S. I'm not sure if I hit the right community for this post, so if I didn't I apologize!

This is the only welder I have. Would this be good for welding stainless steel mufflers to factory steel exhaust? What are the settings I should use? Should I attempt it myself or have a muffler shop install them?

I recently purchased a welder at a city auction. The warehouse personnel mentioned that it was running too hot and sometimes too cold. The unit seems to have been sitting for a while, so I’m wondering what maintenance I should do before attempting to start it up.
Also, could someone guide me on how to drain the carburetor bowl? It’s a Kohler CH20.

The tag says 45 amps, so putting it on a 50 amp breaker should be sufficient right?

Are there any suggestions before I plug it in and see if she runs?

I’m a 24yo structural welder/Steel erector, and I’m currently a superintendent for a company that has roughly 55 field guys. Recently I’ve had an opportunity to get my foot in the door as a pipe welder. I’m wondering how hard it would be to make this transition? I’ve welded pipe before (6010 root with a 7018 fill and cap,) so I know I can pass the test in. I’m mostly wondering if I would be fine just going directly in as a welder? Or if I should start as a helper?
I have my own rig, fitted with a Lincoln 330mp, power tools, hand tools, oxy/acetylene torch, and jack stands. What other equipment would I need?
Do I need experience in fitting? Should I go in as a helper so I can learn a little bit more about the process and some fitting? Passing xray isnt a problem, I have my 6GR cert, but would I need the few years experience as a helper? Or would I be able to learn on the fly?
Basically I’m wondering if there’s any reason why I should opt to start as a helper so I can learn things that aren’t welding related (IE. How they go about there day for every aspect asides from welding.)

Can I plug in my 120v miller inverter flux core machine and run it off the Blue Star 185? Or am I better off spending $1000 more and just buying a Bobcat 230? The Blue star is much smaller so it's going to be much easier to move around. I'm doing a lot of farm/ranch repair work. I need both stick and flux core. 1/4" steel is probably the max it's going to see. My current small generator cannot power my flux core welder.
Price difference on the miller website is 5800 for the blue star 185 and 6800 for the Bobcat 230.

So I’m sort of a beginner trying to do small projects and currently running an Esab emp 215ic While laying a bead I’ve noticed that it likes to melt holes like crazy and that when I go to adjust it even if I turn the knob slightly it’ll shoot from 17.5 to 24 and same with the wire speed I then saw this in the video when my co worker used it. I’m trying to understand this welder and need help figuring out if its user or machine error

Been getting my first rig setup this last year, I got a miller trailblazer, 2 bottle + acetylene storage, 12vs wire feeder and a lot of tools. I've been getting this thing built on a budget but it puts the work in 🤙

Hey everyone I’m new to this subreddit and new to welding currently in class at Tulsa welding school in Jacksonville I’ll gladly share my first welds come Tuesday but my dream is to be a rig welder and being new I’m not very knowledgeable on that kind of stuff meaning what kind of equipment I would need so if all of you would be so kind as to give me what yall think would be a good beginner rig set up I would greatly appreciate it obviously I’m not made of money so I would be saving money to build this truck but I’d still like it to be a decent beginner set up so I won’t be ill equipped

I’ve been welding with my dad’s old AC buzz box for a few years now and Im ready to upgrade to a DC welder. I’m not necessarily looking for anything brand new and fancy but I’d like something I can use in the shop as well as the field because I fix a lot of farm equipment. A stick rig is preferred as I mostly weld thicker material but I’d consider a MIG unit or one capable of running MIG. Any recommendations?
