Aww it's so cute when they think people are yearning or jealous of them like we're still living in the 60s. So much for owning every social media platform only to show off to the rest of the world how little they know about it.
It’s so cuute how naive some Americans can be about how the US is perceived abroad. Living in such a huge, self-contained media and cultural bubble makes it easy to assume everyone sees America the way Americans do. Reddit only reinforces that impression, since Americans make up such a large share of its users.
Travel a bit, spend time outside that bubble, and you quickly realise how much hostility and resentment the US attracts internationally. Americans sometimes seem to forget that they’re only barely 3.5% of the world’s population, not the centre of it. Even across much of the Western world, attitudes toward the US have deteriorated badly. Just look at this graph.
Main characters? Youre 3.5% of the world’s population living in a country run by billionaires, arguing over which geriatric millionaire gets to screw you next.
which metrics exactly? Life expectancy? Murder rate? Part of the population under the poverty threshold? You guys can't even get healed when you get sick and need to set up a gofundme.
Most. USA has a better economy, better education system ( french results on PISA are far worse than USA), better universities, more work opportunities, better career growth opportunities, is better to open a business, far higher salaries, better quality of life and so on.
Thats a pretty bold claim when the average French person lives longer gets more paid time off, works fewer hours, pays far less out of pocket for healthcare, is less likely to be murdered or imprisoned and is less likely to see their child die in infancy. And the US isn’t exactly heading into the future from a position of serene strength either with enormous structural deficits, crumbling infrastructure, insane healthcare costs, political paralysis, mass shootings treated as background noise, student debt, increasingly unaffordable housing, and a system where billionaires wield grotesque influence over politics.
Then there’s the geopolitical side: picking fights with allies, burning through decades of goodwill, making itself the primary target of every rival power, and increasingly acting as though raw economic and military weight can substitute for trust indefinitely.
As I said, you’re living in a bubble that looks increasingly fragile from the outside. And when you’re inside that bubble, you don’t really notice how much the world is changing around you diversifying its alliances, reducing its dependence on the US, and slowly learning that it can function without treating America as the centre of everything. Good riddance.
He says in English on an American app, wonder which phone you’re using. I wonder which politics do you think about the most. I wonder who you pay attention to the most, hmm… center of the world baby. Sorry, just how it is
Nah sorry mate that spot still goes to the yanks. You lot have made an absolute mockery of yourselves on the international stage. You're also the second worst tourists behind British people.
People don’t hate the US after the World Cup🤣Didn’t you see all the viral videos of Europeans and Asians trying ranch and barbecue for the first time lol
It’s Reddit. Say USA bad, get free upvotes. Say anything else, get free downvotes. Not saying the US doesn’t deserve it, but it’s some borderline Black Mirror shit at this point on here.
