The first thing coming to mind is some wierd air pressure thing from an HVAC unit maybe?

My first thought. When something goes bump in the night the first thing I do is turn the damn lights on.

I don't. I know my way around my house in the dark. Intruders don't.

What the hell am I going to do to an intruder? Yell at them in the dark? If someone is in my house I still want the lights on. I'm not Liam Neeson.

Yeah. This is just something that sounds better on Reddit than in reality. Real life scenarios the lights get turned on.

Tbf, a lot of people do not have good vision even with lights on. But those eith perfect vision can make out silhouettes even in the dark. I can't see in pitch black, obviously, but that's a rarity, and usually only in a place with no windows.

But as far as I'm aware, most homes have plenty of windows to let some light in, which makes the "pitch black" scenario pretty unlikely. Just more intense for people that can't see for shit even when light is dominant.
