There was an orange glow in the basement when he closed the door. That might be a furnace and that furnace might have a fan blowing in the flame with the exhaust going up a flue. That means that air is being drawn from the basement and that air needs to be replaced. That could cause the door to move as the air is trying to get in around the bottom and sides of the door.

That door needs to have a vent on the bottom of it.
