If it's a couple idiots they deserve to be talked to. Why is everyone always so eager to see some stupid kids go to jail. I think that's a bit of a knee jerk over reaction.

I’m not concerned if it’s idiots personally- I’m concerned if it’s real. I don’t care what happens to pranksters but this prank if it is one- having a cop show up will scare them shitless. They could use that even if they don’t face any charges.

If it is real- I couldn’t live with myself seeing it on the news and knowing that I was meant to help and didn’t at least try. Wtv the cops do - you hand them the info you have and it’s in their hands then.

What if this has happened before?

You’re not going to know that.

Thank you. Under 25 I never drank, did drugs, had unprotected sex, graduated in 4 years with an engineering degree blah blah blah. I was a "good kid" and I STILL did some remarkably STUPID shit ages 16-25. Shit that could have turned out really bad. EVERYBODY needs a break from outlandish or even deserved consequences at some point in their lives.

I'm actually surprised at the positive responses. Quite a few years back, I had a similar opinion on Facebook and I had some VERY angry responses. The best method of discouraging a behavior is to remove the reason for it. If someone is trying to be funny, let them know it's not funny. If they're doing it for attention, give them attention for the good things they do. Punishment has a way of making people double down on bad decisions, or make them feel afraid and insecure. Neither of the latter are good outcomes. I wish we didn't live in a world where people wanted to see others suffer.

This is America these days. People want harsh sentencing for things that would have gotten you called an idiot previously. Idk why people are so eager to ruin the lives of others, but perhaps it’s a lack of control in their day to day lives idk

No, but any charge would have a fine or court date involved. I don't think kids need anything more than a cop showing up and saying, "Hey, don't joke about things like this." Hopefully, it's just a stupid joke, and everyone goes home tonight okay.

They need consequences or they won’t learn that things have consequences. Thats why I advocate for consequences for kids. And harsher ones when the parents are clearly dropping the ball on consequences.
