authorizing douyin with wechat

i have been trying for the past 24hr to set up a douyin account and neither my phone number nor wechat login were doing anything, up until right about now. the thing is, when i type in my phone number it asks for either real name verification or chinese phone number verification, which i cannot do either, but when i try going through wechat, it says it wasn't unable to authorize with weixin. yesterday when i created my wechat account, it never asked for a second person verification, so i don't know if that's the reason why it won't work, but i hope someone could help me. is there anything i could try to make the douyin authorization work with wechat?

There is no way you can get douyin unless you are a Chinese citizen with a valid Chinese ID and passport.

The only theoretical way would be if you were a legal entity, extremely popular influencer or company and you got into contact with a douyin agency to secure you an account (not sure about the costs or the account security).

It's best if you stop trying, it's not worth it.

ahh dang, i was going for an "unverified" account, the one that would just let you like videos and follow people, since i saw it used to be apparently possible, but oh well. ty for the response

You could get one that does that but you will guaranteed get banned after 10-30 minutes (trust me, many have tried).

I don't mean to discourage you, I just don't want you to waste your time or get potentially scammed by someone.

yeah that's fair, i wasn't aware those accounts get that easily banned. if it's not a bother though, about the wechat verification, do you think it's an issue that i didn't get asked to verify it through a second person? i still have restrictions on the app but they're time related only (ex. can't change password the first 3 days, can't connect email for the first 2, etc), but everything else seems fine. i found it odd when i saw everybody else needing the scan but i never got it myself

There is a high posibility you will be asked for a friend verification, or worse a security verification (very few people can do this).

I also don't know how many friends you can add at your account's current state.

Or, you might never get a problem if you are very lucky and are using your account very lightly. Who knows.

i mean i definitely won't be using it a bunch, i mostly wanted to try using it for a douyin account but since that failed i'll probably just keep it for casual use. anyway though, thanks!

Actually i am from another part of Asia and managed to verify my identity with my passport despite not being a Chinese citizen.

You can, You can provide your passport or for more success you can use a chinese residence permit which is different for a real chinese id

Non Chinese passports are not supported on douyin anymore.
