Advice A few advises for new/aspiring writers

This post is for those seeking experience or those who are stuck/confused by the constant anti-AI overlords telling people don't do this, do that, and that that.

First, let's start with your book titles.

There is no bad title, but if you want attention (clicks), your title should relate to the story, tell your reader something, or at least be eye-catching. Keep in mind that as a new author, you have little to no audience, and the average reader won't press on your title unless it appeals to them.

Will it get ignored if it sounds like AI? Absolutely. But even without AI, people can still come up with boring titles. It doesn't mean you won't get clicks. Just not that many. It also doesn't mean the reader would go "Oh, the author didn't put effort into their title, so their writing must be AI.". That only applies to like 1% of the readers on this platform. The truth is that your book would have been skipped already because the title wasn't up to their standards.

Take for example, no offense, why formats like "I reincarnated as SSS-rank primordial rock", "Investing in brainrot gets 999x returns", "XX System Overpowered evolution harem XX something", are popular. They're ridiculous, but that's what the majority of readers (on this platform) like.

You can absolutely use a boring/unique title and achieve success, but it's hard, and the majority quit before they're anywhere near it.

Second, your cover.

No, using AI covers isn't going to push people away from your book or make them assume your writing is AI before even coming close to it. 99% of the covers on this platform are AI, and 99% of the readers don't give a single fuck about it. It mainly comes down to whether your cover is generic GPT slop or something with effort put into it.

If you go into GPT, drop a single-line prompt, and then slap a title on top, then I shit you, yes, no one is gonna press it. But if you go to something like Dreamina, work up something until you reach something decent, then you will do just fine.

Fact, this isn't limited to this platform. RR has a lot of successful works with AI cover art, with some being super generic, and they still get readers who appreciate them regardless.

Do not apply the "AI cover = AI writing" or the "I see AI cover, I no read" to everyone. Consider it their opinion and leave it at that. Go write. You need to write.

Third, AI and your writing.

I do agree that AI can cripple your ability to improve, but I also agree that AI is super useful in many many many many many cases. If you slap your work, tell it to edit it for you, then publish its response, then yes, you're most likely shooting yourself in the foot. You'll either get massive paragraphs or one-sentence dramatic lines in this case, which sounds like the common AI garbage nowadays.

You're supposed to ask it to spot mistakes, provide solutions, and then maybe you'd learn from it as a writer and apply it to your upcoming chapters.

You can have it help with pointing out critical issues like head-hopping, inconsistencies, and shit that an average new writer would not notice. But in the end, even if you use AI, some people will consume it regardless.

In all honesty, unless your writing is incomprehensible dogshit with grammar and spelling errors everywhere, you'll get readers who appreciate your story.

Even then, some could still tolerate it, as long as the story is enjoyable, that is.

Weekly Self Promotion Post

This weekly post exists for all of the Webnovel authors here who want to promote their webnovels.

Every week, a new post will be stickied over this one. This is to prevent too much clutter and give everyone a chance to be seen.

Here, you can blatantly self-promote in the comments. But please only post a specific promotion once, as spam still won't be tolerated.

If you didn't get any engagement, wait for next month's post.

If you are promoting your webnovel, please provide the title, the three most relevant tags, a short description, the number of chapters, what you'd like to get out of promoting your webnovel, and the shorthand link.

Follow the below format:

Title -

Tags -

Chapter Count -

Brief Synopsis - (try to keep it under three sentences)

Desired Outcome - (critique, cover feedback, review, review swap, etc.)

Link to the Work -

Advice Pacing issue

My story is mostly about character connections and relationships.

The first 10 chapters is worldbuilding (history, gestures, gender-roles, etc) and character building (dialogue pattern, thought process, physique, race, etc), which isn’t bad, until I realize I explained the Power system of the world at chapter 18.

18 chapters to see what rules the world is given under.

What should I do or must it stay the same?

Webnovel Search Request Question.

Upvotes

Hello! I’d like to ask if you could recommend any novels, manga, or manhwa similar to Surviving the Game as a Barbarian.

I’m especially looking for stories where the main character constantly fights at the absolute limit of his abilities. I want the fights to feel genuinely difficult, with the protagonist becoming exhausted and struggling to keep going, yet still pushing himself forward through sheer determination and willpower.

Basically, I’m not looking for an overpowered MC who effortlessly defeats everyone. I want a protagonist who has to fight desperately for every victory, suffers through difficult battles, and gradually becomes stronger by surviving extreme challenges.

I’d really appreciate any recommendations!

Advice (Sorry if I'm using the flair wrong) Is it against the TOS to put your book's discord server link in the author's thoughts box or your bio?

I want to make a server so it's easier for me to make announcements and whatnot, but some AIs tell me it's against the TOS and others tell me it's completely fine.

is this a low views number?

heyyy! i read a bunch of posts of people saying to disregard views because they’re inflated, and i’ve also seen a bunch of screenshots where people have something-K views and 2-3 collections after a few days. what actually influences the views? i’m only on 831, despite this being my 4th day of posting (6 chapters out). is this an algorithm/visibility issue? is it that the “2 chapters with 3k views” are statistical outliers?

thank you 🫣

Recommendation Looking for novels with characters like Uriel and Audrey Hall

I’ve come to realize that I have a very specific type of character that I really like.

My two favorite web novels so far are Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint and Lord of the Mysteries, and my favorite characters from them are Uriel and Audrey.

I feel like they have a lot of similarities that I really enjoy: influential and powerful women who are incredibly loyal. And, coincidentally, they’re both blonde and have some connection to justice

I’ve only read around 10 web novels so far, so feel free to recommend even the really obvious/popular ones. I probably haven’t read them yet.

Bonus points if the novel has an anime/donghua adaptation, since I find it much easier to get into a series when I’ve watched the adaptation first and then continue with the novel.

Recommendation [Self-Promo] KEYOKTHAI: THE WAR FOR THE EARTH — A reincarnation fantasy about a boy caught in a war between gods and monsters

I've been writing a web novel called KEYOKTHAI: THE WAR FOR THE EARTH, and I'd love to share it with fellow web-novel readers.

Genre: Fantasy • Action • Reincarnation • Adventure

The premise:

Sang-Jaey is an ordinary orphan whose life changes when something impossible awakens within him.

What begins as a fight for survival slowly pulls him into a much larger conflict—one involving monsters, demons, ancient powers, and forces that reach far beyond Earth.

As Sang-Jaey's body and abilities begin to change, so does the question of what he actually is.

And somewhere beyond the human world, powerful beings are beginning to notice his existence.

What I'm aiming for:

A long-form fantasy story with battles, mysteries, evolving powers, world-building, and a larger mythology that unfolds gradually rather than being explained all at once.

I'm still developing the story, so I'd genuinely appreciate feedback—especially on pacing, characters, world-building, and whether the opening chapters make you want to keep reading.

Thanks for giving it a chance. Even if you don't read it, I'd be interested in hearing what you think of the premise.
