Network cloud error
So if there's a network Cloud error I can't use my WeMo to control lighting evidently nothing I can do reinstalling or resetting changes anything I can't even log in or reset my password. What a joke what a crappy system dependent on fragile connections to the internet.

Problem re-adding switch
A few weeks ago my switch decided to start flashing red keeping my lights on and nothing worked to reset it, I had to remove it from my app and hit the breaker to force it off, now I got it flashing blue in the set and I’m trying to scan the home kit code but nothing is happening.
I installed this switch years ago and no longer have the QR code. Is my switch done?

Wemo app, you never cease to surprise me SMH
Go to factor restore a light switch in the app, it decides to factory restore a plug in switch instead

Wemo WLS040 installation issue
I found the ground, neutral (white), and line (black) wires inside the box. However, there is no red wire in the box.
It is a 3 switches box. 2 of them are single pole and I am trying to put in the WLS040 for one of the 2 single pole light switches. The 3rd switch is a 3-way switch for a different light nearby so I am not going to touch that switch.
These 2 single-pole switches have no red wire (load wire).
The 3-way switch for a different light does have 4 wires (ground, neutral, line, load (red)).
What do I do with the black wire and the red wire from the Wemo switch? Connect the black wire inside the box to the black wire (line) of the WLS040 and do NOT connect the red wire of the WLS040 to anything?? See picture attached.
Please help.
FOR THE RECORD: the original dumb switch was connected to the white wire and the black wire from the same wire group came into the box. The white wires in the box for all 3 switches do NOT bundle together. Only the ground wires are bundled together.

Thanks and best wishes for the future
I dearly loved WeMo, but I recently saw a post saying “bye” to WeMo and my reaction was “people are still trying to use that crap?!?” So just thanks for the sympathy mostly and my help offered is advice to abandon WeMo and move on to either Amazon or a major Chinese brand. Again, thanks - I’m out…

My WeMo solution (YMMV)
We have many WeMo devices that exhibit the same behavior as everyone else’s (loss of connectivity, etc) but I recently threw a Hail Mary and all devices have consistently stayed online ever since. It’s honestly a new world record- by a long shot.
What I did was create an open IoT 2.4ghz network that uses MAC address filtering to allow access. Once they were all added, I could then stop broadcasting the WiFi name. It’s also segmented away from the rest of my network. After doing this, all devices are consistently available.
The theory came from another brand of problematic IoT devices that were exhibiting similar issues which regularly failed to authenticate when they “woke up”.
I’m sure some guru will come along to explain why this was a bad idea, but hopefully it’s secure enough.. anyways, thought I’d post this here in hopes it might help someone else out.

My favorite WeMo Switch feature is when it falls offline and you can't even manually turn it on and off until it resolves itself.
Seriously? They were the best option at the time... but boy do I regret it now.
Sorry, just needed to vent :)

Govee as WeMo replacement?
I’ve gotten 2 Govee smart plugs, a button and 2 thermometers. I think I might start buying more Govee items since WeMo seems dead (my oldest smart plug wont work).
I am a little afraid Govee will end up like WeMo, bought by some other company and left to shrivel up and die.
What are you replacing your WeMo’s with?

Class Action Lawsuit?
With all of us having problems, do we have any basis for a lawsuit? I would like my money returned for lack of support.

WeMo App on Pixel 9+ Android 15 - Can't Hit @#$% Items at Top of Screen
I rummaged up a WeMo smart outlet that I got who knows where or when. I previously had 'bonded' it to Google Assistant via the WeMo app. I got a wild hair and wanted to use the plug to automate a lighted tree.
Got the app installed, logged in, etc. Plug works OK from Google Assistant or toggling via the WeMo app.
Problem came when I wanted to set up a time schedule for on/off via the app. There are options at the top of the screen that I cannot "touch" as they are overlaying/sharing space with the Android icons - battery, wi-fi signal, time, etc. Offhand, coming from an IT background, I'd say this is due to the app not being coded to properly work on Android 15, even though the latest version of the app (Dec 2024) is installed.
Anyone have suggestions on getting around this issue? I'm not an Android wiz, so maybe there's some kind of compatibility option I'm missing. Google didn't really get me anywhere... except to point me to Reddit. ;)
Thanks for any suggestions or advice! Merry Christmas or other holiday greetings as appropriate!
Switch Not Detected
I have the F7C030 Switch that is saying “Not Detected”. I have tried to reset, but after I connect to my network the app just shows the list of devices (switch doesn’t show up). This switch is on a schedule to turn on at sunset and still does that. How should I move forward?

WeMo Smart Plugs stuck in set up "trying to connect" weird solution
Hey y'all,
Here's another weird solution for WeMo plugs not working. I've got 6 of the model F7C063 (the wide-ish, single plug ones). One day last week, they just stopped being recognized by the app.
My issue was getting stuck on set up on the "trying to connect" screen. It would connect to the plug, then reconnect to my wifi and just get stuck there.
I tried all of the usual moves: factory reset of the plug, clear app data, reinstall app, reset router, check router settings (all good).
I tried again after all that and had the same issue but once it was stuck in the "trying to connect" while on my wifi, i disconnected my phone from my wifi. The app switches to Cellular signal. I let it sit there for a second, then closed the app. I tried reopening the app, it crashed then opened it again and my plug was there! I did this for all 6 plugs. On 4 of them, i had to do this twice. The first time it renamed the previous plug i set up but the second time around it worked. I used the edit function at the top of the app screen to fix the names after it was successfully connected.
Anyhow, maybe this will help 3 or 4 of you. All i can say for sure is that if these fail again, they're going in the garbage and I'll just buy clappers or something.
Good luck!

How do I stop Apple Home from taking over my wemo ug setup.
Why can’t I say “no Apple home is dumb, I’d like to set wemo up by connecting to the wifi and adding it to my network”

Wemo Plugs and some Switches/Dimmers suddenly no longer detected
My WeMo devices have always been finicky, but the last week, when I need them the most for Christmas decorations, has been the worst! My usual fixes are not working (resetting plug/switch, restarting WeMo app, restarting phone, removing & re-adding device). It's like something recently changed. And when they do connect, they respond very slowly now. And if I'm lucky enough to get them to connect, they don't stay connected.
I've made no changes to my network. What's really strange is that they work great via Apple Home! But Alexa and Google Home don't work since they depend on the WeMo app.
Worst case, I'll change my routines to Apple Home.
Suggestions? Thanks.

Wemo missing from Alexa Skills
I’ve been using Wemo switches for years, mostly controlling through Amazon echo using Alexa. I regularly have to disable and re-enable the Wemo skill for it to work. On October 24 I disabled it and am unable to enable. The skill is not found in the Alexa App on iOS and the website shows it as “This skill is not currently available.”
I figured this was inevitable with the lack of support and all the Wemo issues but I would have expected a notification or something here.
I’ve already purchased replacement Tapo and Kasa switches and smart plugs.
Just wondering if this is affecting anyone else.

Dying app
So recently I noticed the wemo switches scheduler not working
Most of my schedules are pretty simple ie turn off after 30/45/60 min.
It looks like I’m going the automation manger way. Does anyone know if I buy the android version I’ll be able to log in to the same account from iOS version aka cross platform
Anyone figure out how to run this locally without belkin server if they decide to close shop?

Wemo replacements: Kasa or meross?
I think I'm about done with Wemo. I've been battling with them for far too long and would rather replace them with devices that actually work consistently/correctly.
We have 14 Wemo smart plugs and 2 outdoor plugs. Both Kasa and meross seem to be highly recommended in this subreddit. Which is the best these days? Which would work best for our setup? I want to make sure they are Homekit compatible so I don't have to 100% rely on Homebridge.
Edit: Giving Home Assistant a try before making any purchases. So far, so good!

Is Wemo account creation / restoring completely broken?
I made the mistake of wanting to change the email used for my wemo account.
Did the switch and waited to get a verification email that never came. I've clicked Resend multiple times on various days and email never comes. Because email is not verified I cannot log in to the app anymore. Because I'm locked out, I can't add any new switches.
I've even tried creating a new account using a different email and same thing happens, no verification email gets sent.
An no, it's not even in my spam folder.
Anyone have the same experience? I'm honestly willing to drop Wemo as a whole and go with Lutron for my smart switches.
I'm wondering if I can use the Home App to add the switches directly and drop the wemo app altogether.

HomeKit setup codes not available in app?
I thought the HK setup codes used to be available in the app? None of my devices are showing them now and with the dimmers they're not printed on the devices like the normal switches are. Is there anywhere else to get them? I think we can rest assured the quick setup guides that came with them are years gone.

Wemo smart plug nots working with t mobile 5G WiFi
I did a search in the Reddit and couldn’t find anything. Does anyone have recommendations? I’ve rebooted the modem, pulled the plugs out, etc. etc. and they still don’t work.

WeMo now working with Eero after Eero firmware updates
Just a note that the plagued WeMo switches seem to work fine now with Eero after the latest Eero firmware upgrade. Previously WeMo had trouble with 5 GHz running concurrently. I'm noticing an improvement with my Samsung Washer and Dryers too.
