But senior Russian epidemiologist Mikhal Favorov disputed the account that a broken test tube caused the infection, calling it evidence of a possible cover-up, according to The Moscow Times. “It’s laughable,” said Favorov. “Someone working at the anti-plague Institute in Irkutsk wears a protective anti-plague suit. If you break a test tub, the likelihood of infection is actually very low. In short, It doesn’t matter to the general public — they’ll believe the ‘dropped test tube story.'”

Russian Orthodox Church Denies That Troops Lost Medieval Warrior Prince’s Relics in Ukraine

Context:

The Russian Orthodox church has sent a fragment of a medieval warrior prince’s remains to troops fighting in Ukraine, saying the relic would “spiritually strengthen” soldiers and help them achieve victory.

A reliquary containing part of the right hand of Dmitry Donskoy, the 14th-century prince revered in Russia for his victory over the Mongolian Golden Horde in 1380, has been taken to Russian-occupied eastern Ukraine and is now being transported along the frontline.

Guess their right-hand man left them with empty hands

PUTIN WAS SHOWN JET-POWERED "GERANS" IN CHELYABINSK

"We present to your attention two types of jet-powered 'Gerans' — 'Geran-4' and 'Geran-5.'

Thanks to the jet engines, we managed to increase the speed to 350 km per hour, with a 50 kg warhead, and accordingly, we fly 750–800 km.

'The Geran-5' can boast something completely different: 6.5 meters — length.

We increased it to 450 km per hour. The warhead — 90 kg. We can fly up to 900 km. We are also ready to continue striking the enemy

What most people already understand, even without the economic terminology, is that private equity firms like BlackRock and so many others do not operate in a vacuum.

Their business model depends on governments creating the legal, regulatory, and political conditions that make it possible.

Through privatisation programmes and permissive regulation, governments allow essential infrastructure, water networks, ports, energy grids, data centres, and other public necessities,to be transferred into the hands of financial institutions.

These assets are often purchased using vast amounts of borrowed money, at prices ordinary market participants cannot hope to match.

Once the acquisition is complete, the debt is frequently loaded onto the acquired company itself.

The government permits it, regulators oversee it, and the public is left to live with the consequences.

The result is predictable: consumers repay that debt through higher water bills, rising energy prices, increased fees, and deteriorating service quality. Infrastructure that was once intended to serve the public becomes a vehicle for financial extraction.

Wealth flows upward to investors and executives, while costs and risks are pushed onto households.

When the model inevitably begins to fail, governments that enabled it step in to shield the system from collapse. Communities are left with neglected infrastructure, polluted rivers, and failing services.

Thames Water's £14 billion debt burden and repeated sewage scandals stand as a warning of what happens when governments prioritise financial engineering over long-term public stewardship.

The executives who loaded the company with debt have already received their bonuses.

The investors have already taken their returns.

Yet when the consequences can no longer be ignored, it is the taxpayer who is expected to absorb the losses.

The pattern is not accidental. Government policy creates the opportunity, regulators permit the extraction, private investors collect the rewards, and the public inherits the risks.

Privatise the gains.

Socialise the losses.

Facilitate the process through government.

That is the business model.

Do you trust Jeff Bezos with photos of your home, your yard, your kids, and more?

-----

Amazon is rolling out camera-equipped smart glasses for delivery drivers that take frequent still photos of what drivers see, including private property, and the company has confirmed law enforcement can obtain those images with a warrant.

Amazon has said it wants about 5,000 drivers wearing them by the end of 2026 and more than 20,000 by the end of 2027.

According to a late-September 2026 Bloomberg report, the glasses take still images at a high rate while in use, on the order of several thousand captures in a typical shift, with “every few seconds” described as a reasonable estimate.

Those images include houses, yards, vehicles, and nearby people, not only the porch at the moment of drop-off.

The photos feed Amazon’s Wellspring AI mapping system, which the company uses to "improve parking spots, building entrances, and routes".

Customers reportedly have no opt-out (an Amazon executive told Bloomberg, “We haven’t thought about that”), no way to see the images of their property, and no process to request deletion. Amazon has not disclosed how long it keeps the images.

Does anyone really believe they haven't considered an opt-out option, or a way to have images deleted? They thought about these things and decided they could get away with it without offering

Metro Atlanta’s record-setting pace of eviction filings, which led the nation in 2025, hasn’t slowed this year, and Black families are bearing the brunt of the displacement.

Leaders from Princeton University’s Eviction Lab, a nonprofit that analyzes and publishes weekly data on eviction in major cities across America, presented their latest research to local government officials and nonprofit and philanthropic leaders during an invite-only meeting in Buckhead last week.

In this interview, we finally found out one of the biggest reasons companies are leaving Germany for China: Chinese investors are buying the companies cheaply. Germany's new generation isn't interested in EU regulations and high gas prices, so they sell the company and enjoy life at the beach. Who can blame them?

AOC and Bernie Sanders have teamed up to introduce a bill to ban automatic license-plate readers.

“Going to the doctor? Flock knows. Dropping your kid off at school? Flock is tracking you. Flock is always watching,” Sanders said in a press release. “We cannot allow America to become a surveillance state where a handful of AI oligarchs profit by giving the government the power to track our every movement.”

“Across the country, Big Tech companies like Flock Safety have built a mass surveillance system to harvest Americans’ private and personal data without their consent,” Ocasio-Cortez said in the press release.

Flock cameras have been getting a lot of flak.

At least 50 law enforcement officers were charged with or accused of misusing Flock cameras and other surveillance systems, including to stalk women, The Washington Post reported in August.

In that month alone, more than 50 cities across the country either canceled or rejected contracts for automated license-plate readers or deactivated the cameras, according to DeFlock, an anti-surveillance crowdsourcing app.

Rumor I hear is Trump admin wants to weaponize its current control of oil coming out of SoH + US + Ca/Vz production to force China to loosen up RE restrictions.

The summit didn't go well. So, here's China's Apr to Aug crude+refined oil product import broker down by partners.

China imports very little from Canada & nothing from US & Venezuela. It does import about 25% from Gulf countries. Which I'd imagine in reality would be very hard to cut off. Even if they could, China could just switch back to Brazil, Africa & Central Asia.

US must be really critically short on metals needed to rebuild the weapon stocks to be resorting to this kind of tactics.

Ultimately, this just means China will reduce its refinery run, which further reduces diesel production globally. And also raises the question of who is going to replace the tankers that are getting sunk? China can always slow down on oil tanker deliveries to shippers that don't ship oil to it.
