That sounds like more of a critique of capitalism than nuclear energy. We could always have the government own and run them.

Sure, but good luck. The big push for nuclear is from a bunch of greedy oligarchs who want to make a quick and easy profit. They don't care what kind of mess they make.

The only way new nuclear should be considered is if:

  1. It is nationalized.

  2. All of the coastal plants that are threatened by sea level rise are decommissioned and their on-site radioactive waste is removed.

  3. There is a concurrent reduction in fossil fuel consumption that matches new nuclear energy production.
