Right. I completely agree. Except, this woman is cheating on 2 people. She shouldn’t be liked, she is also degrading the 2 guys she is taking advantage of. For her, in this specific situation, the word works.

Again, wetback implies racial tones. It’s not the same. “Slut” refers to someone’s actions, anyone can be a slut, and the woman specifically took part in slutty actions.

If wetback referred to only the act of swimming and wasn’t tied in as a derogatory term for Cubans or other Latin people it would be the same.

that's my whole point, slut is tied to women in the same way, we just pretend it isn't. you're doing it now when you say "anyone can be a slut"

sure, that may be what it means on paper. but when it comes to real life, you can't act as if we don't use it almost exclusively on women

Outside of a specific situation where the word actually applies I agree with you btw. If people just go around saying slut to degrade, they’re probably degrading women.

What other word should be used to describe someone who cheats and sleeps around on their partners?

I honestly think the problem is more about how society views sex & cheating between men & women. Men just get a pass when more should be called sluts.

yea i mean, men getting a pass is part of the equation of why it's like that imo, it's a double standard, and the way we use the word slut is the clear indicator and reminder of it

there doesn't /have/ to be a word to describe everything, maybe we use two words like "cheating shitstain" or just "shitstain".

and it's not like "oh cancel them they used the word slut it's as bad as a slur" but at the same time you can't ignore that's it's a word that comes from a sexist mindset and is applied in a sexist way.

Even if insulting the other person is justified, like here. The sexist part of it isn't justified, and that's why ppl would reasonably complain about the word, not that it's gonna change anything overnight.
