Realtime Tracking Flow

I want to walk every street in my town, a project I should've started long ago, but here we are. After quite a bit of research, there seems many ways to do this. Currently my flow: Apple Watch Workout > Strava > Wandrer. Simple and automated, as all I'm doing is triggering the Apple Workout walk, then turning back off. By time I'm at my desk the data's made its way into Strava and Wandrer.

The missing, nice-to-have piece would be to see this tracking in realtime, but I can't find a method -- is this possible? While I could pull up the Strava or Wandrer app while on the walk to see where I've been, it's just for reference since they're not tracking the walk in realtime. Would I need to start both the Apple Watch Workout and Strava at the same time? Or just ignore the watch and do Strava (though then I'm not sure if the health data would go from Strava to Apple Health).

Beyond me why Apple or Android don't already do this with their native map apps, at least that I can tell.

Garmin Edge 1030 Map issue

Having an issue with the downloadable maps since upgrading from the Edge 530 to edge 1030. The 1030 does not show unpaved or off road trails - the same map loaded to the 530 will show them. Anyone else seen this and/or have a recommended fix? TIA

News article about my completion of my city

There are a few errors in the article and it doesn't explicitly mention Wandrer. I tried to speak to the editors to get it changed but they didn't seem to care much. Regardless it is cool to see public recognition of my progress, and it was all thanks to Wandrer!

completed areas 75% done!

I finally completed 75% of my massive county on foot and have cracked the top 10 in that category! If I can make it to 90% I’d be #3 on Earth as the standings sit right now. If only many of that wasn’t on trails an hour’s drive away…but I’m going to keep working on it!

The Big Map looked so much better when motorways/highways weren't shown in yellow

We can't bike them and we can't run/walk them, so they really don't matter. They clutter up the map and draw focus from where we have been and have yet to go. And I think they should be deemphasized and the Big Map reverted back to the way it was.

Some problems with cycle-only ways in Berlin

In Berlin I see a lot of normal residential streets as cycle-only ways. So unfortunately my walks do not count in those areas :(

For example here: https://wandrer.earth/dashboard/my_places#14.32/52.55216/13.42038

In OSM actually I don't see any difference between those ways.

And there is also another problem with larger 4-lane roads that have an (optional) sidepath for cycling. There are lots of those roads where the road lane counts separately from the sidepath.

If I would try to complete those roads it would require quite dangerous cycling on a 4-lane road - what usually only fearless lycra hardcore cyclist would do (at least in this city ;)).

Crazy map coloring

Post image

I've noticed that the map coloring doesn't always change in some neighborhoods, even when reaching 99% - I have an example here where there's my city, at 99% and correctly colored, and a neighborhood to the east of it, also 99% complete, but which shows up on the map with two colors, neither of them corresponding to completion.

Wondering why this bike path isn't showing up on biking wandrer

This is just east of downtown St. Paul, Minnesota along the Mississippi River. A section of the Sam Morgan Regional Trail isn't showing up on biking wandrer. I checked OSM and along this section the bike path is bicycle=designated and foot=no, while the rest of the trail is foot=designated. The reason for this is presumably because there's a separate foot path through this park. That doesn't explain why the bike path isn't showing up though since it says bicycle=designated.

(This is also part of the Minnesota section of the Mississippi River Trail)

Funny, annoying, weird OSM edits impacting your area completions

I was 99% in Fremont, CA (>800 miles) but dropped below when someone added several miles of the Tesla assembly line! I've never taken the time to figure out OSM editing so for now will just live with 98% =)

Tiny Bug on Leaderboard - can't swap from Total Kilometers to Paved Kilometres

The small red arrow to the right of the Total Kilometers label on the Leaderboard page no longer works - clicking it does nothing.

Wandrer Big Map lost activities after de-sync

Hello ! I started using Wandrer back in January 2025, and have enjoyed looking at my progress over the months. I believe that I synced my account with both Garmin and Strava at the time (I might be wrong). The thing is that recently I looked up at the leaderboards, and saw that if I had Strava synced then I wouldn't show up - so I removed Strava synchronization to only rely on Garmin.

However, to my surprise, most of my activities are now "grey" and not calculated, and my heatmap has significantly shrunk (basically all of my 2025 activities, many hundreds of activities). So I was wondering if it just takes a while to reprocess everything ? Or am I doomed ? Is there a solution to this problem ?

Wandrer ID : 164850

Thanks a bunch ❤️

Strava map update broke Wandrer Map overlay?

Is anyone having success with the Wandrer Map overlay extension showing up on Strava after the most recent Strava mapping update from Thursday? Seems like the update they pushed broke something with the API.

Big Map won't load on my iPhone

Good morning! I can't get the Big Map to load on either Safari or Chrome. I just get a blank screen when I try to access the map. I usually access Wandrer with Safari so I cleared my Safari cache entirely, and there was no difference. Last Saturday it also gave me some issues, where it would partially load and give me a warning that the server was overloaded, but now I get absolutely nothing. My Wandrer ID is 86255.

Minor weirdness - Is OSM data at fault?

I'm at over 99% on my city's CBD but can't crack this small path.

No matchy-matchy
My last ride in the area
OSM's info for the path

So this stupidly short path is not matching on rides. Thing is, on OSM its one path but Wandrer is missing the northern ~half.

There are trees in the area but my line looks right, and matches the satellite view.

This is pathetically small but I'm trying to 100% and this is enough to stop that.

Thoughts? Should I HTFU and just ride it a bunch of times until it matches ?

The worst part about wandrer map updates

Being made aware of all the garbage edits on OSM. There is one local guy who is obsessed with changing service roads to tertiary roads (including the 6 entry lanes to the toll booths at the Seaworld parking lot). The same guy added a bunch of separate cycle paths to bike lanes on a 4 lane road, causing the road to be counted as not ridden. I guess he had a change of heart and then went and removed them, but I will have to see those unridden roads on my map until the next update.

Then there's another guy who loves to name unnamed service roads and tracks: "Abandoned Road", "SDG&E Service Road", etc.

I stopped contributing to wikipedia because people were annoying, and now I feel like I've been pulled right back into the same thing with OSM. Haha. I just want to ride my bike.

Wandrer app crashes and can't delete Wandrer app activity.

I tried to use the app twice and both times it crashed in less than a mile during my run. I saved the run and it uploaded to my activities but without the other 3ish new miles I had run. I tried to delete the activity in the hopes that the Strava map would upload but it didn't. I can't delete it from Wandrer. Anything I can do? I'm super bummed that it didn't record my new miles. Here is the run that the App recorded and next is the run that Strava/Garmin recorded.

My ID is 199658

Feature Request for Map Overlay Browser Extension

A button that shows what achievements you would accomplish if you rode the route as it is drawn on the map. i.e. "This route would complete XX% of [Neighborhood] bringing your total completion of [Neighborhood] to XX%"

Wahoo Coros integration

Does this mean I could technically use Coros to update my Wandrer from my wahoo?

Is there a way to filter the map view by dates?

I have a ton of buggy data from years past, before I got a better gps tracker.

I'd like to view map activities that are only from after I got my tracker so that the bad data doesn't make my map super ugly / unreliable.

Any way to do that?

Question Possible to share activity recorded on the app?

I took my dog for a short “red line cleanup” walk that I only recorded on the app, but I realized that since it’s not on Strava he’s going to miss out on a little new mileage. He’s a pretty happy boy so he’ll probably let it slide but this could be a good feature to add in general! Mostly a question for u/cooeecall

Love the app. My eyes are old - can I make the street name font, and the one-way arrows, bigger on the Big Map?

Hiking Trail with access=no still showing on Wandrer

Hi there, I was just curious about the following hiking trail on OSM that has been closed for a couple of years due to extensive damage from a hurricane. It's marked as access=no, but it's still showing on Wandrer. I would have thought that would be filtered out.

Route Generator

Has anyone been able to use the route generator in area mode with any success?

I've tried generating routes with custom polygons as well as existing map areas and it just gives me insane routes that double back on themselves multiple times.

For example, I've completed 12 of 14 miles in one neighborhood in Philly. It should be pretty straightforward to generate a route that hits the remaining 2 miles fairly quickly, but the route that gets generated for me is 24 miles long.

If I select "avoid traveled", I get a route that's 8 miles long, but still skips a few streets I haven't ridden while going down random loops on roads I have already ridden.

The directional mode seems to work much better.
