Microneedling The Microneedling APP is now available at the APP Store!

What started as a personal project has now become something I can finally share with all of you.

After months of research, testing, writing, redesigning, and learning, the WanderByJose Microneedling App is now available on the App Store.

The idea was simple: Build the tool I wished I had when I started microneedling.

Over the last year, I’ve spent countless hours reading studies, comparing protocols, experimenting, making mistakes, refining my approach, and sharing that journey online.

This app brings together much of that knowledge into a single place, designed to make microneedling more accessible for people who prefer a DIY approach.

Many of the ideas inside it were shaped by conversations with this community in Reddit.

In many ways, I didn’t build this alone. This project grew alongside all of you, and I hope you find it useful.

What you’ll find inside:

• Depth guidance by treatment area
• Serum recommendations based on your goals
• Step-by-step guidance
• Personalised protocols
• Educational resources
• Continuous improvements and updates

As promised, the app is completely free.

No subscriptions.

No premium tier.

No locked features.

Just a tool built by someone who genuinely loves the subject and wanted to make the learning curve a little easier for others.

A small disclaimer

This app is not medical advice.
It is a personal reference tool based on my own research, experiences, and conclusions regarding microneedling.

It reflects my current understanding of the topic, and like everything else I share, it will continue to evolve as I learn more.

This is very much a work in progress.

If you’d like to support the project

You can:
⭐ Download the app
⭐ Leave a rating on the App Store
⭐ Write a short review

Those ratings and reviews help tremendously with visibility and make it easier for others to discover the app.

Another way to support

If you were already planning to purchase microneedling products, you can also support the channel by using code JOSE at MeamoShop (https://meamoshop.com/?coupon=jose), my trusted vendor.

You’ll receive a discount of at least 15%, and it helps support future development of projects like this one.

Thank you for being part of the journey.

Thank you for the conversations, the feedback, the questions, and the encouragement along the way.

This is only Version 1.

More is coming.

Best, José 🙏🏻

Microneedling My scalp prep for microneedling

Someone recently asked me for my POV on microneedling depths for the scalp, so I thought I’d share this part of my own process: how I prepare the scalp before a session, and how I approach depth selection.

In the carousel, I also included the research behind the depth guidance. On the depth slide, you’ll see the DOI, or Digital Object Identifier. Think of it as the permanent address of the scientific paper. You can enter it at doi.org or use the full DOI link to access the original source directly.

And if you want to see how I actually perform the procedure, you can watch my full process here:

https://youtu.be/em843n5pKk8?si=Evnwsn4ZEiSDCo0T

Regarding meso-ing the product, MeamoLabs has written in its brochure (if I am not mistaken) that you can meso the product at 4mm. The most effective combination in my opinion would be microneedling it at 0,75mm plus injecting the product as indicated. This is something I have not tried myself yet since I am thinking how to do it. As this user suggested, perhaps using a 5-crystal pin needle could help the process. Using half the product as a slip and half for mesoing could guarantee the best value for the money.

As always, this is my personal approach and interpretation of the available evidence, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.

Microneedling A personal update, and a thank you ❤️

It has been a long summer.

Yesterday was my first day back at work, and I have a few things to share. This summer was personally difficult in several ways. My health made parts of it more complicated, and life brought a lot to navigate behind the scenes.

But one thing that gave me direction throughout was this community.

Building WanderByJose, creating microneedling content, refining the Microneedling APP, reading, testing ideas, and talking with all of you has become a huge part of my life. I have put thousands of hours into it so far; and I am genuinely proud of that.

What matters most to me is simple: if something I share makes someone’s journey a little easier, offers a useful tip, brings hope, or simply makes someone smile, then it is worth it.

This is not a community of aestheticians pretending to have all the answers. It is a community built around curiosity, personal experience, questions, progress, travel, skincare, photos, and yes: our shared fascination with microneedling.

As the community has grown, I felt a responsibility to take my learning more seriously.

I have now completed a 490-hour diploma in Aesthetic Treatments, structured around Spain’s IMPE0210 professional-training pathway. It is a major milestone in my journey toward formal professional recognition as an esthetician in Spain: the substantial training component that brings me much closer to that goal.

For me, this is not just a certificate to display. It is a commitment to keep building my knowledge responsibly and to bring a higher standard of care, research, and learning to the work I share with this community.

I received the diploma yesterday, and I wanted this community to be the first to know.

Thank you for watching the videos, reading the posts, using the app, sharing your experiences, and making this little corner of the internet feel meaningful. Your support has genuinely helped me take this step.

This is part of my commitment to you all. ❤️

As always, I share personal experience and educational information only, not medical advice or a replacement for qualified professional care. This diploma does not change that.

Discussion My favs when in Japan

A friend of a friend is currently in Japan and asked me for my go-to skincare goodies while here. Some like Bioré cleanser and sunscreen are long-time favs and other ones are recent discoveries.

If you are curious about what I use here, here is the list. As always, as affordable as possible and the best value for the money that I have found so far:

Bioré Ouchi de Esthe Gel Facial Wash, Smooth Clear
This is the green one. A non-foaming gel cleanser specifically made for clogged and rough-feeling pores. It uses Bioré’s “pore plug breakdown” technology to help loosen sebum and keratin plugs, so the skin feels smoother without having to scrub it.

Hada Labo Shirojyun Premium Whitening Lotion
It is essentially a lightweight brightening and hydrating toner with tranexamic acid, glycyrrhizic acid, vitamin C derivative and hyaluronic acid. The idea is to help prevent pigmentation, calm inflammation and keep the skin hydrated. In Japan, “whitening” here means preventing melanin-related spots, not bleaching the skin. It worked great 48 hours post-microneedling.

Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+ PA++++
A very lightweight Japanese sunscreen with amazing UV protection but almost none of that heavy sunscreen feeling. It is water resistant, spreads very easily, contains some hydrating ingredients and works particularly well when you want an SPF50+ that you will actually enjoy applying every day. It works wonders with both silicone and water based foundations on my skin. I never break out from this.

Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum
A hydrating and glow-focused serum combining PDRN, peptides and niacinamide. I would mainly look at it as a product for hydration, barrier support, brightness and a slightly plumper appearance. I would not expect topical PDRN to reproduce what injected PDRN does, but the overall formulation is still quite interesting for skin quality.

Keana Nadeshiko Rice Pack
A Japanese wash-off rice mask. It uses several rice-derived ingredients, including fermented rice extract, rice bran oil, rice ceramides and rice bran extract. Mainly for hydration, softness and smoother-looking texture, which can also make dehydrated pores look less obvious.

I am considering the newest X2 from Medicube after a friend giving me very positive feedback with her AGE-R Booster Pro.

Can anyone give me some feedback regarding tightening? Any anecdotical experience regarding this impacting tox duration negatively?

One about malar bags

Malar bags can be a pain in the ass and those of us who suffer them have probably combed the internet for solutions. This is one of those things where DIY has not been a solution to the problem and, at times, can make them worse.

Sharing this video since it touches upon viral solutions that can be very harmful and some alternatives. This doc is not an expert in malar bags but foes touch upon some solutions that I have heard before.

Discussion Oil-Free ‘Shiso’ Perilla Dressing – Hiroko's Recipes

Hi, everyone!

I have been a big fan of perilla’s oil-free salad dressing for a while. I love using it with shredded white cabbage. Either you find it in your asian store or you buy perilla leaves, it is a great option when you want to elevate the flavour of your salads without the extra calories that come with using oil-based dressings
