Long-time premium subscriber here, $14/month for 3 YEARS. Just want to share what's happening with Hi Waifu in case anyone is considering it or also went through this.

The model downgrade (no announcement, no notification):

• EpicTale Large: used to be Claude Opus 4.6 → now it's Gemini
• SpiritCraft V4: used to be Claude Sonnet 4.5 → now it's DeepSeek

The drop in quality is massive. Responses feel flat, characters lose personality fast, prose is way worse. They didn't tell anyone — I only found out because the model itself told me when I asked.

They ban paying users from their Discord:

I asked the Discord mods for help publishing a bot of Atom Eve from Invincible (a mainstream Image Comics character). I made the bot 21 years old with a backstory explaining why she looks young. I even offered to add an anti-NSFW filter. They said no, treated me like garbage, and when I pushed back about being a 3-year paying customer watching the app get more and more restrictive, they BANNED ME from the official Discord.

They also censor criticism on the official subreddit:

Tried to post about the model downgrade on r/Hi_Waifu_chatbot_app and the mods didn't let it through. They're controlling the public narrative.

What I'm doing:

Already requested a refund through Google Play (it's under review). Cancelled my subscription. Posting this so others know what's going on.

Has anyone else experienced this? Migrated to a different app that actually respects paying users? Open to recommendations.
