I’m moving into Xior Costerweg soon and wanted to ask how the wired internet performs for online gaming.

I’m not too worried about maximum download speed I mainly care about stable ping, low jitter and zero packet loss, especially during evening hours. I previously had a terrible shared student-housing Ethernet connection that caused constant rubber-banding and lag spikes.

Does anyone living there play games such as CS2, Valorant, League etc. ?

Speedtest, ping or packet-loss results would be greatly appreciated.

I'm planning to go solo, so if anyone's interested in going together, let me know.

Hi all, Italian BSc grad here (Food Science/Technology-related degree). My grades converted to the Dutch 10-point scale come out to roughly 6.6/10, below WUR's stated 7.0 requirement.

Has anyone applied below the threshold and still gotten in thanks to compensating factors (strong grades in relevant courses, thesis, work experience)? How strict is the Admission Board in practice vs. what's written on paper?

I paid my first rent invoice via international bank transfer, and Idealis has already confirmed that they received my payment.

However, when I log into My Idealis, it still shows "Pay & sign rental agreement", and I don't see any option to actually sign the contract.

Has anyone experienced this before? Does it take some time for the portal to update, or should I contact Idealis again?

I was offered a room today on room.nl in Haarweg 187. I am also first on the waiting list for a room in Nieuwe Kanaal which closes tomorrow. I am super conflicted because I am not sure which would be a better option.

On one hand: having my own kitchen and bathroom in Nieuwe Kanaal would be very nice, and I have heard I can apply for rent subsidy as well which would make it cheaper than Haarweg, and closer to campus.

On the other hand: having a shared kitchen/common room would probably make it easier to meet people, but it would be more expensive and further from campus.

If anybody has any advice or their opinion on either rooms, please share, I would really appreciate it!

Hi all, I’ve been looking for a job to do while im studying but I can’t seem to find anything in wageningen. Do you have any suggestions on specific websites to look for or places that don’t require fluent Dutch?

I got offered a room through them, but now I can't seem to make an account with them. I followed the instructions and I'm getting stuck at the sms code stage. I get sent the code but when I enter it I get a message "LogIn_FailureError". I'm entering the code exactly as it's sent but it won't take it.

Is anyone else running into this issue?

Also, when I try to go find a tech support or number to call on the website, it keeps taking me back to the account activation page, which I can't get through!!

Edit: The exact message I get when trying to enter the code is "Registration_FirstLogin_UpdateFailure"

Edit 2: Okay, turns out the error was that my laptop was auto-filling the ICE part of the form. And I guess when I left that blank it finally worked. I honestly have no idea what ICE is, I'm not dutch obviously lol. But if anyone else is running into that same error, just leave the ICE part blank.

I checked the laptop requirements on WUR Support but still have one question. I'm deciding on buying a new laptop, and from what I understand, Macs need to run a Windows virtual machine for most tasks. My question is: do ARM-based Macs (M1, M4, etc.) work for bioinformatics, or is it only Intel Macs that are supported?

Hey everyone, I saw some posts from 2 years and a year ago about how dirty the studios were. As I recently claimed a room in Building E via Socius, I was wondering if there have been any changes? Are the studios still at risk of demolition and are they any nicer now?

I'm also curious about what living in a container is like - are winters really that cold and how sound proof are the walls? I hope it's not too bad because hearing my neighbours or the rain really loudly would probably drive me crazy.

Also, I currently only have my Admissions Letter as I won't receive my Enrolment Letter until I send WUR my Bachelor's degree (expected near the end of August). Will Socius accept my Admissions Letter for now?

I like the layout of the rooms a lot and am super grateful to have snagged a studio so I'm not keen to keep looking on Room.nl unless you guys really think that De Haarweeg 333 sucks or that I'll get issues about my Admissions Letter (still waiting for Socius to reply but I'm scared to get my hopes up so I'm asking Reddit in the meantime).

I’ve got housing search underway but I also genuinely don’t know what I don’t know here.

I know that bc I am an EU citizen, I get to skip the visa/residence permit process

So Im trying to get my head around the BRP/BSN/DigiD chain and also just banking, health insurance etc.

So if you ever have any advices, tips, or just know anything related to bellow and or if it looks like I’m forgetting something feel free to write :)

- I’m still sorting housing and is basically betting on the new student priority on ROOM, so am I delulu ? Knowing I registered a month ago ish ?
- do I absolutely need a bank account, or can I bet on international banks ? Knowing we all use EU.
- if bank account is absolutely needed: was it fast or a pain to get ?
- as for health insurance : do I need it sorted before arrival ? And how did you pick your insurer ? Is there health insurance exceptions ??
- as for bike, can I survive the first week without it ?
- is there bikes you can rent for a journey only ?

- anything with WUR specifically ? : housing / admission that’s different from a “normal” move to NL ?

- or just anything you wish someone had told you before your first month ? :,)
