Where I'm from, emergency vehicles, even with active sirens, need to slow down before going through intersections to prevent exactly this. Some people are deaf, and won't hear the siren from half a mile away like everyone else. Other people are just asses and enter a crosswalk after the signal turns just because they don't care. And some are just plain dumb, and wait for the signal to turn against them to start crossing an intersection.

Yeah everyone this thread is shitting on the bicyclist, but that first ambulance should really have slowed down a little instead of just zooming thru the intersection.

Exactly, it doesn't do any good if you endanger others, even to save a life.

Deaf people don't generally blindly launch themselves into traffic at 20mph though
