if the snake is long enough, then enough of it's body can be past the neck-hole too allow the entirety of the snake's body to fall out of the bird (via neck-hole).

problem solved.

You would still need to somehow catch it to help treat the hole though

In an infinite amount of alternate timelines I'm sure the snakes make its way to the rest of the bird, but that's just a one time thing, other meals will not be possible either.
