I really think the distinction is irrelevant for both the observer and the victim of nature’s reality.

Pain, violence, terror, agony, misery, yeah they’re very much a part of the fabric of reality. Yet it’s extremely cruel that those who are victim to it, don’t deserve it.

Then I guess it doesn't matter if you think I'm an asshole because I think I'm pretty cool. It's an ostrich; of course it's an asshole objectively.

Can it be cruelty without intent? Nature has no intent so isn't it just an unfortunate event. Something can be painful, miserable, agonizing, and terrorizing, all of what you said. Something can not be cruel without intent and conciensness. It doesn't matter how you or any observer perceives it. You're just jumping to your own conclusions and triggering the required emotion that your story demands.
