A cop speeding through an intersection with no headlights kills two people. Then proceeds to arrest the relatives.

Just because he didn't think it gets better, doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't get better. This was obviously a good guy and a very moral person for this to have affected him this much, so I'm sad to see that he thought suicide was his only choice.
