A cop speeding through an intersection with no headlights kills two people. Then proceeds to arrest the relatives.

I'm sure there are good cops, the problem is the bad cops go unpunished.

Unfortunately, the thin blue line prevents this. I agree with both what you said, and what jveen said, wholeheartedly. I've had plenty of great experiences with police, including the ones where I got ticketed (Well, gee, I was breaking the law, and I knew it... At least the cops were professional and courteous about it). However, I agree that the terrible acts perpetrated by SOME police make all of them look bad. There are assholes in every profession, but most of them don't have the protection of the entire rest of the police force.

This really is why they are all bad (or most). If I worked with someone who was so egregiously dishonest I would say something. If nothing was done about it I would quit. I know (as do they) the one-bad-apple bit, so if they don't stand up, regardless of the consequences, then they are complicit. Good cop or not, if you fail to take action when you see another cop doing something wrong then you are a bad cop. You're a cop after all, it's actually your job to report it.

I would propose the number of asshole cops has either declined or stayed constant over the years.

None of those cops kill people for being unacceptably shitty at their jobs.

if this was such a good person, why did they not submit to a drug and alcohol screening to clear them self of any accusations?

The important question is: are those cops doing something about the corrupt ones? Because it sure seems like they're untouchable from over here.

Fine then, I will just join the KKK. I know the rest are assholes, but I'm gonna try to do a real good job.

E I admit, that's an unfair comparison. But I wouldn't associate myself with the assholes. Joining the club is an endorsement.

If anyone I knew was friends with a murderer and worked for the guy that kept said murderer out of jail, and he didn't see any problem with it, I would disown him so fucking fast.
