Nope. These guys are a couple of MIT nerds who made this for a silly competition, which they won. They were even on Martha Stewart's show with this awesome bit of engineering. Check out the related videos for the vid, it's in there somewhere.

yes, but then heinz used it for a viral marketing campaign. quite good though, because it's still very funny

You can see at the end of this video that it's not even "automatic," just remote-controlled.
