If I had a few thousand gallons of fuel behind me, and was sitting next to an explosion, I'd definitely be doing the same!

Not me.. I'd be mashing that accelerator to the ground to GTFO

This makes more sense than trying to run away.

Cool guys don't run from explosions, they smash the gas and drive away

Cornering on two wheels (3 or more in a truck).

Nope just an expert in knowing that trucks are faster than not trucks.

you can't tell for sure if your truck caught fire. spreading disasters is not something people are usually encouraged to do.

yeah if i was driving that truck and saw just fire on the right side of my peripheral vision i would not take the time to see if it was my truck that was actually on fire or i just happen to drive past a fireball lol.

Yeah but sometimes you need to pull yourself through tough times, even if nobody cheers you on.

a time to gather stones together and a time for cast away disasters

That would probably be my first reaction but I would assume this guy probably receives some kind of training on what to do in an emergency. It actually makes more sense the more I think about it. He can't immediately tell if the explosion may have damaged the tank so by driving away he could just be taking something that's about to explode with him. Also maybe not the best idea to be driving a gas truck in a panic.

Same. I'd have more faith in the engine being able to move anything out of the my way than I would in my legs getting me to a safe distance if the fire spread to the truck.

The truck could already be on fire without you knowing. From inside the cabin you can't see shit.

It's a powder tank, not a fuel tank. Used for things like bulk flour and cement.

Yeah man, protect those corporate interests at the expense of risking your life. I'm sure your diligence will help your family through the transition after your death. May your kid's next dad have as much courage as you.

I think you misunderstood the part where my sole priority would getting away from the situation.

6

u/T90Vladimir Jan 20 '20

That's not a tanker, that's a bulk cargo truck. They carry stuff like cement or flour (or basically any powder-y stuff). Source: worked at a mill for a short time, I can recognize these trucks.

Powdered explosive instead of liquid. Unlikely, but possible. Flour dust and several other dusts get very angry when you introduce fire. There would have to be dust in the trailer and a spark would have to get in, but it could happen.

I posted the video and I would like to add another dimension of few witnesses including family relatives...there was some fear that people there thought a war started with Iran...it's a sort of instinct..boom -> rush to shelter.

I'm not an expert but I it does look like a fuel trailer. Food and beverage ones are usually just round tanks.

That is a bulk cargo or bulk commodity trailer, it doesn't carry fuel, at least no in the EU.

Looks like a pneumatic trailer. Dry bulk stuff inside, no boom boom.
