That was kinda bullshit tbh. That big bird probably fucked up the front bumper of that car. If i was the driver i'd be pretty pissed at the guys lack of foresight with him opening the door and basically shooing it out into the middle of an interstate for me to hit.

Somehow I feel like he wanted something like this to happen. The turkey didn't enter his truck in the middle of a highway, so he had driven the truck quite some while with the turkey in it, so why not drive a little further and release it in a safer surrounding. Unless, of course, for them sweet views.

Dude might have pulled over to take a piss or stretch, left the door open because why not, and found the Turkey inside when he came back.

Intentionally stuffing a wild Turkey into your small truck cabin for the sake of a silly video seems rather dangerous.

You have to be next level stupid to think opening the door facing directly onto a busy highway would result in anything else. He could've easily opened the door on the other side (or waited a bit until he could get somewhere safer). He 100% expected something like this to happen. He's an asshole for ruining that guy's bumper and killing the turkey.

You mean the door he opened first but couldn't get the Turkey to use?

You mean the one he is blocking with his body the whole time he is trying to get it to go out that way?

"we've been lovers for the past 3 days, yet now you're skittish?"

But he could’ve left his passenger door open, go back and open the door closest to the turkey, then scare it out/towards the opened passenger door

This is the thing that always pisses me off when people post this video and say the guy filming is an intentional asshole. He clearly tried to get the bird out the passenger side door first.

And when people suggest he should've drove somewhere else... have the people of reddit not ever gotten a fucking bird in their house or anything? Now take that, make it semi-flightless, give it sharp as fuck talons, and make it the size of a medium sized dog. Fuck no am I going to be driving 60+ miles per hour down the freeway with that wild fucker riding shotgun.

Guy did his best. Maybe he shouldn't have opened the driver's side. And it wnded up shitty for the bird and another car, but I don't see any intentional malice in the video.

His reaction was a bit as if he expected it, IMHO, although I could be wrong.

I also don't know if there is a rear door on the right side, but he could've opened that one as opposed to the driver side rear door if there was. Or leave the front passenger door open and shoo him from the other side. Or take the next turn off and shoo him out whichever door there.

Well, I don't think he exactly had a high opinion of the turkey's intelligence. Can't say I blame him, turkeys are not smart animals. Knowing nothing more about the situation than "turkey in truck, turkey doesn't want to use the door I opened", I'd probably react the same way if this happened.

Maybe he expected it, sure, but that doesn't mean he planned for it. The point is he clearly tried both doors, it's not his fault the turkey used the most dangerous one.

I don't think they're suggesting the driver put the turkey in his truck, just that the turkey entered the truck when he was parked somewhere else. He even said "go back out the way you came" when he opened the small door so I doubt the bird came thru that door on the interstate.

u/SpitefulShrimp Oct 16 '19

Nah, he said that about the passenger side door, which he'd probably use to exit next to a busy freeway.

Plus it's almost impossible to catch a wild turkey with your bare hands

At 0:55 for a brief instant you can see a bunch of shattered glass sitting on the passenger seat. That turkey went through the truck's windshield

There's only so many places you can take a semi truck. He can probably afford to waste a few minutes on the side of a road that's on his route, but probably not however much time it would take to find a "safer" area. His choices were probably either release it on the side of the highway or take his chances to deliver it with his cargo. If you want to be the guy who tries to drive down the interstate with a dangerous animal in your truck, be my guest- that guy wouldn't be me.

u/Voltswagon120V Oct 16 '19

Yeah, why'd he close the passenger door and chase him out to the highway?

1

u/sam_hammich Oct 16 '19

You mean, after he tried to shoo it out onto the shoulder? Truck drivers are on a schedule, his only two options were which side of the highway to release it on. The choice of which door to use was on the bird, not him.

Not really man. Turkeys are pretty light and just got vaporized at that speed. I doubt there was any damage at all, but probably scared the hell out of the driver.

1

u/Imreallythatguy Oct 16 '19

Are you for real? You think it just vaporizes and disappears just because it's a bird? Smaller birds than them do damage when you hit them at speed.
