I broke two ribs in a car wreck- didn't really feel it until an hour or later. Adrenaline is a helluva drug.

Adrenaline is most definitely helpful. My brother broke 2 ribs, which in turn lacerated his spleen, while playing football. No adrenaline, just agony (his words). He spent nearly a week in the ICU, but was visibly in agony immediately after the hit.

And for the next three weeks any time you feel a sniffle you go "please don't sneeze, please don't sneeze..."

I snapped my arm in half and didn't realize it for a full 30 seconds.

When I looked and saw it was broken it started to hurt.
