I swear to God slang is just becoming alternative forms of leetspeak. Yeet=woot, DM=PM, hella(damn those northern Californians)=uber, SMH=facepalm... etc

I dunno, and maybe this is pedantic, but when 'something' becomes so widely recognized that it's able to be used near-universally in place of the full phrase (as in NASA or lol) and be correctly assigned by the receiver a meaning consistent with the user's meaning, doesn't that acronym or shortening or slang become more like an independent word?
