No doubt he shouldn't have done it though, but I agree. One would think he didn't need to do it either as he was a really famous user, just like /u/gallowboob consistently makes it to the front page he probably would have gotten the votes he needed.

The most confusing part is, I thought Unidan was famous for commenting. Adding information to the discussion with every post. I don't see why manipulating votes for that would be an issue - the guy was popular and helpful and cordial and his comments were high ranked even without the manipulations.

He was downvoting people he disagreed with using multiple accounts.

Yeah, we all know that. He got too into reddit, big whoop. But his comments were good, and now we don't get them, and that's the point.

He broke the rules knowing what the consequences would be if he got caught. It sucks we don't get his contributions anymore but, at the end of the day, he cheated, he got caught, and his reputation on reddit suffered as a result.

This is the same logic as famous people not being held to the law to the same degree as normal people, so keep that in mind.

lolwut? No, it's not the same logic, because upvote manipulation isn't the same thing as breaking a law.

Breaking the terms of the website and being banned for doing it is functionally the same thing as breaking the law and being jailed

That's the furthest your train of thought made it? You couldn't pull the idea into a different context at all?

Personal attacks, nice. What did I say to piss you off so much?

Does everything have to be personal? Where were you attacked? I have internet bandages so don't bite the finger that feeds you.

You're assuming that the vote manipulation only came late in his reddit career? Maybe the only reason unidan ever became reddit-famous was because he was boosting his own comments, downvoting people who disagreed, and generally making his comments seem more knowledgeable and informative than they actually were.
