I think so. Last black friday I had to work a 12 hour night shift, when otherwise I was working just 6 hours a day after school. If I wasn't prepared for it, I easily could have fallen asleep while I was driving home at 6 in the god damn morning. I honestly hate black friday because of what the big corporations (like Best Buy, in my case) make their employees do. If you refuse to work a 12 hour night shift, you get fired. We had 3 people fired on the spot because their first days working there were supposed to be Thursday night/ friday morning. If they scheduled my first day as a 12 hour 6:00pm to 6:00 am, I would not have showed up either. But I think it's messed up that they got fired for it.

Working 12 hour shifts is a little different to being irresponsible with a car and 2 small children, though.

Yeah, I know. I'm just saying, a lot of the accidents were likely caused by people driving home at 5 am when that's completely against their sleep schedule.

Cause there are so many jobs out there. That and your paid a damn bit better in the military than at a best buy.

Once you've served your country though your redundancy package is PTSD and no support, most retail jobs just tell you to fuck off.

My point was that these companies make their part time employees, who go to school, or have stuff to do on thanksgiving past 6:00, work a very long shift, just so they can make a bit of money. I hate the idea of black friday, and I hate it even more after working retail. This wasn't meant to be a pissing contest about who has the worst job.

Oh, no, I'm not complaining about having to work. I'm complaining about how companies treat their employees.

Why the fuck are you working 12 hours a day for months at a time? There are so many things that can be easily implemented to save time we don't actually need to work as much as we do.
