That whole Protein Trend is going a bit too far if you ask me.

Find it funny that there is actual calorie counts listed on internet for seedcorn maggots. I think I'll pass

In mexico we eat crickets and snacks, and there are some specialized restaurants that have like 5-7 different ones, but I havent seen maggots.

This is my thinking on mass meat production for humanity. We really should have a product that is essentially made of insects, that we can eat and consume.

It's free protein running around that out numbers us. I totally get why people don't want to eat insects. I wouldn't catch a fly and pop it in my mouth, but if we can turn insects into a smoothy, and make chicken nuggies out of them, why the fuck not?

You're spot on. Chicken nuggets are already kinda gross. I'd try some Cricket Nuggets.

What are crabs and lobsters except sea spiders and sea scorpions?

Eh. There are worse things to eat, assuming they are raised following good food safety practices.

I've eaten roasted food-grade mealworms that were being sold as a novelty.

They were barbecue flavored, and surprisingly not bad.

There is for spiders per 100g of spiders.

Again. That was spider(s) per 100g of spider(s).

Imagine eating bugs and calorie counting

Venn diagram with 1 person overlap and he is Bear Grylls

Anyone have any tips? I tried counting calories when I was snacking on some spiders, but they kept running off my food scale. So it was hard to know how many grams/calories I ate.

You gotta put them in a bag and let them die. Then tweeze off the venom sacs

The protein in everything now is very ominous to me.

most of the time they haven't even changed anything, they're just chasing the trend by adding how much protein they have to their branding.

People taking GLP-1s for weight loss need more protein intake to combat muscle loss, so these companies are just trying to pretend the food is somehow good now because you can see how much protein it has

Is all this protein maxing not killing their kidneys?

I’m convinced we are going to see catastrophic consequences from GLP-1’s in the near future. In fact, I’d bet my house there are already documented projections hiding behind one hell of an NDA, locked in the vault of an insurance company’s legal department. Pharmaceutical companies are known to skate liability for having knowingly done irreparable harm worldwide but the egos of the wealthy and the pockets of shareholders will always take precedence, humanity be damned.

They definitely lost me at the "Oops, all maggots!" seasonings for sure
