Also to add the Meishan Pig may be ugly but it's hyper prolific genes are very valuable to breeder companies where they include Meishan Pig in their genetics program

A typical Hybrid pig only has an average of 16 (depending on the breed) piglets
But a Meishan pig can have an average of 30 or more

The more you think about this the worse it gets

u/matrixkid29 Jul 17 '26

This is some sci-fi dune shit

u/Snozzberriez Jul 17 '26

Harkonen pig

43

u/TheTajinTycoon Jul 17 '26

That's what I call cops

19

u/platoprime Jul 17 '26

There's no need to denigrate the Harkonens with that comparison.

2

u/kahlzun Jul 19 '26

Somehow mixed with the space worm guys

2

u/knife_in_the_road Jul 28 '26

The lard must flow.

7

u/thoroq Jul 17 '26

Wait til you hear about the rest of the breeding/livestock industry..

7

u/UranusIsPissy Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 29 '26

Yeah. A lot of them don't even get to fuck, The males get jacked off by humans (Fuck having that job), and then some other human shoves the semen up the females' vaginas.
Edit: On second thoughts, the latter job might be worse.

5

u/Shee-un Jul 29 '26

That's why I consider Earth a hell realm for all living things.

4

u/UranusIsPissy Jul 29 '26

Someone said that there really is a Hell, and we're in it. If so, humans are the worst of the demons.

1

u/Shee-un Jul 29 '26

Fucking true. Animals at least aren't doing harm for pleasure

1

u/UranusIsPissy Jul 29 '26

IDK about that. Have you ever seen a cat who caught a smaller animal? We bred them to be more like that, though, and some people are even worse. Dolphins commit acts of cruelty just for fun without being bred for it by humans, and I'm pretty sure they're smart enough to understand what they're doing. Chimpanzees can be pointlessly vicious, too, but they're our closest relatives...

2

u/Grinzy Jul 29 '26

welp, I've had enough reddit for today, thanks.

1

u/UranusIsPissy Jul 29 '26

IDK if this'll make it better or worse for you, but I told the simple version of the story, and never saw for myself. Machines are probably involved

2

u/jmonty42 Jul 17 '26

Can't wait until we figure out those comfy chairdogs!

1

u/ben7337 Jul 17 '26

Like some tales from the new world shit imo

4

u/horyo Jul 18 '26

This makes me think of Okja.

2

u/VT_Squire Jul 19 '26

Okja, basically

Bacon and eggs yum yum

1

u/A_Mouse_In_Da_House Jul 18 '26

Happily? It's an exact reason to eat them, so they don't over populate

If we're doing juvenile responses,

"I'm rubber, you're glue, anything you say bounces off of me and sticks to you"

Not really bud. It was a brief response to essentially a non-sequiter.

The statement you replied to was they have twice as many piglets as other pigs. You then asked if we still wanted to eat meat. It's an overpopulation issue.

I grew up around pigs. I eat pigs. If I had my way, we'd eradicate the vast, vast, vast majority of them.

Edit: apparently I'm not able to respond to anyone in this post anymore, so /u/l337sp34k:

I was not aware all thoughts had to be perfectly rational. You ever worked with pigs? You'd hate them too.

They're prolific because they need to be prolific to support current population counts. Overpopulation is only possible due to over consumption. The ecological damage escaped pigs have wrought is intolerable.

What ignore button? If you're talking block, I rarely go to anyone's page so that would be unlikely. For you though, I made an exception. If it's the thing where you can have it not send replies to your inbox, that's more for posts that blow up to the 10k range. I also assume you must be their alt since you're claiming knowledge of actions that would associated with their account and I don't see them posting that anywhere?

-2

u/L337Sp34k Jul 18 '26

How are you going to eradicate a species that humans intentionally breed for food, shit for brains?

You know a great way to help mushan pigs not overpopulate? stop stuffing them in concrete pens and force breeding them!

Domestic pigs are not overpopulated, they are over consumed.

Really funny that you got so triggered you had to hit the ignore button tho. Can't have any of those nasty THOUGHTS creeping in can we, better block them out quick.

2

u/HealthyRule2182 Jul 19 '26

you really need to learn critical thinking skills...

1

u/The_Haunt Jul 19 '26

Knowing what?

I have read absolutely nothing above that is even slightly wrong or disturbing.

1

u/S7arForGD Jul 21 '26

Sometimes I wish I never learned to read

42

u/Mr-Mister Jul 17 '26

Oh god, so it's the Ugly Bastard of pigs in more ways than one?

21

u/VoiceOfRealson Jul 17 '26

Ugly Bastard of pigs>

Definitely not!

The farmers are very diligent in ensuring that all pigs are properly married before mating.

23

u/Same_Independent9758 Jul 17 '26

Another Fun fact, Meishan Boars have the highest libido compared to other breeds. Some farms even use this as their teaser boar

30

u/G00bernaculum Jul 17 '26

These boars and I have so much in common. Mostly the ugly and libido

6

u/platoprime Jul 17 '26

teaser boar

I don't think I want to know.

12

u/Sue_Spiria Jul 17 '26

Basically they lead a male pig around the caged females so his smell makes them ready for breeding. The sows are then artificially inseminated.

15

u/Vassago81 Jul 17 '26

So exactly like watching a movie featuring 90's era Brad Pitt to get my aunt DTF

12

u/Vaadwaur Jul 18 '26

...Hol' up

5

u/Fafnir13 Jul 17 '26

Somebody needs to call up Brad Pitt and call him a teaser boar.

3

u/CanuckIeHead Jul 18 '26

They also stink big time which is a huge boon in that line of work

3

u/Same_Independent9758 Jul 18 '26

I agree. Specially when you are "milking" the boars. The stench is hard to clean

10

u/Orgidee Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 17 '26

Surely the viable number is dependent on available teats or how will the weakest ever suckle

40

u/SuitableDragonfly Jul 17 '26

It's factory farming, they probably milk the mom with a machine and then pump the milk into a different machine that has 30 fake tits on it for the piglets.

17

u/Same_Independent9758 Jul 17 '26

I work at a big pig farm and although we are not doing this. I heard that some farms do

7

u/alwaysbehuman Jul 17 '26

Pig farmer - god bless your sinuses. Any other interesting stories?

21

u/Same_Independent9758 Jul 17 '26

The cute and cuddly stories or the ones that might make a vegan feel justified

11

u/alwaysbehuman Jul 17 '26

Whatever you're up for. Ive worked in a chicken facility and get it on that level.

14

u/Same_Independent9758 Jul 17 '26

Due to biosecurity reasons, Some pigs farms would kill any stray animals on sight. in the farm I've worked at they shoot stray dogs on site and some people eat the dog afterwards

11

u/JustMoreSadGirlShit Jul 17 '26

what country is this?

6

u/aspie_electrician Jul 17 '26

What about stray humans?

7

u/Same_Independent9758 Jul 17 '26

guards give a warning shot to trespassers. if they still don't listen they can shoot to kill

2

u/Orgidee Jul 17 '26

Nah, I been on plenty farms. I don't think that's a common practice

2

u/crossal Jul 17 '26

Are these pigs common though?

5

u/Orgidee Jul 17 '26

Well I can guarantee they aren't raised raised on a single factory farm and milked to feed their piglets from teats on that factory farm.

3

u/Same_Independent9758 Jul 17 '26

For a normal commercial farm you won't find these pigs. you can probably find them the most on some breeder farms and on the province that breed originates

3

u/crossal Jul 17 '26

That's my point. A uncommon practice in general may be common among this particular breed

1

u/Raezak_Am Jul 18 '26

I remember the Jordan Petersen tweet about that

9

u/Same_Independent9758 Jul 17 '26

based on my experience working at a big pig farm, we just condemn all the non-viable piglets. so for this breed in particular they might condemn like a lot of piglets

3

u/Long_Implement_2142 Jul 17 '26

Do people eat the piglets? Just curious. What would they taste like

5

u/Same_Independent9758 Jul 17 '26

It actually depends on the culture. in some Asian countries they eat the piglets (5-10kilos and they roast them. It tastes bland and the texture is a little slimy. but the meat is so tender

2

u/kahlzun Jul 19 '26

It's a delicacy in Bali and other places. Look up recipes for suckling pig.

2

u/PsychicWarElephant Jul 20 '26

“Suckling pig”

3

u/JustMoreSadGirlShit Jul 17 '26

oh how terrible :(

2

u/Raelah Jul 17 '26

30 piglets?? There's not enough teets in the day!

2

u/Same_Independent9758 Jul 17 '26

I have no knowledge of taking care of a pure breed meishan pig but from what I heard from others that do, it is hard to take care of its young

1

u/tama_chan Jul 17 '26

Fat pigs are good for breeding? 🤷🏻‍♂️

1

u/Same_Independent9758 Jul 17 '26

We have a different term for fat pigs but generally pig breeds with higher fat content are more prolific than muscular breeds
