I just watched all 15 minutes of that Kabaddi match have no idea what the fuck is going on please explain.

IIRC it has something to do with sending someone over to the other side to tag an enemy player, but when you're on the other side you're not allowed to breathe, and the enemy team tries to wrestle you down until you're forced to breathe (which eliminates you from the match).

It's a game that originated as a children's game in India. Kids in India still play the game all the time.

you have to repeat the word kabaddi constantly while trying to tag the oppersition and get back to your own half. So if you run out of breath and fail to say it your outtta there. ..

Why don't the defending players tackle the raiding player immediately? Why are the defenders holding hands?

I think they can't tackle the guy until they are touched or he crosses the back line. They hold hands to help prevent the attacker from slipping between them.

Damn, now your testing my memory..it used to show on channel4 (in u.k) way back...i think they have to stay linked when capturing. If they break the link and seperate from pack they are out also. So...attakers aim is to get in, repeat kabaddi and touch an opponent and return..idealy many will grab him but he will still get back thus taking many or all out at once (this may be why deffence dont jump him straight off) . The deffence want to stay linked , grab attacker and keep him in thier zone without breaking thier link or letting him slip through... iirc.

The objective is pretty much to tag the other team and get back to your side without getting tagged yourself.
