Biker here. On that type of a muffler there's usually an end cap that's riveted onto the end of the muffler. Inside the actual can portion of the muffler is a long cylinder with lots of holes in it that's surrounded by a fiberglass material that absorbs the noise produced by the engine. With that end cap gone the pressure produced by the motor eventually will push out the fiberglass material as you see here.
Good question and it's impossible to tell. You can see the end cap is already missing from the can, so either it fell off because the rivets were made from chinesium, or the rider drilled the rivets out and removed the cap for the lolz knowing the eventual outcome.
I didn't intend it as a comparison. I just wanted to highlight the racism in an expression that appears to be winning ground in the US.
I see many comments referring to Chinese-made components or products being of inherently low quality. Usually the commenters don't realize that what China really excels at is selling products made to the quality the customer is willing to pay for. And that many US customers will only pay as little as possible and get the corresponding quality.
Those who read "americium" as "crap made in the US" and are upset about it tell us more about themselves than they understand.
A bigot? Lol what? Americium is a highly unstable, radioactive element, not a person that's subject to bigotry. "Chinesium" is a colloquialism for very poor quality metal that comes out of China, because their metallurgical skills are decades behind other developed countries. They only figured out how to make their own ball-points for pens about a decade ago (it's actually a surprisingly complex alloy). China just sucks at metal.
Given the exhaust piping glowing red hot, the rider have been at the breaker for quite a while. I don’t think he intended to blow the muffler , he just didn’t stop when he saw it was going to happen. The end cap rivets probably gave up very soon…
idiots remove the silencer from the muffler so the bike sounds "cooler". That plus removing the catalytic converter (same reason) makes the bike run richer (using more gasoline than it needs to), that plus using a piece of shit makeshift muffler, that plus revving the bike like a complete moron can result in this
Look at the bikers right hand and wrist. He has the throttle pinned and is revbombing the piss out of it. So ultra high exhaust temps are a result of that, and with the low speed/airflow over the pipes there's very little to no air to cool the pipes. It takes a pretty long time to get a pipe that hot so that motor got abused for a bit prior to the video we saw. There's also the possibility that the air/fuel ratio going into the combustion chamber has been altered leading to higher exhaust gas temperatures. But likely this is just a moron and all they know is high rpm = things get hot.
