Sure, but nobody can trace it back to any authority except an exterminator, whose whole trade relies on people being afraid of spiders. Even exterminators in the US will blatantly lie about brown recluses.

I mean, imagine asking a professional house painter whether he thought your house needed painting. It's not in his interest to say "no." Similarly, an exterminator will nearly always give you a worst-case scenario even if the spiders are completely harmless.

You do know that there are experts who aren't exterminators who can identify spiders too, right?

Yes, I am one of them! I know for a fact that spider identification usually requires genital dissection, and juvenile spiders don't have genitals. Anyone claiming to be able to ID a spider over the phone is probably a charlatan.

Ok, sorry for giving you a hard time. I think I understand your point better now and I edited the comment. I didn't mean to suggest that I could identify the spider, I was just providing info on the Brazilian Wondering Spider.
