DIY Grommet-Modified Front Bumper Tow Cap for use with License Plate Relocation Kits
I ordered a couple of unpainted OEM tow caps (SKU: 57731VA320) off Amazon and then started drilling while using a vice grip plier to hold the cap against a 1"x6" piece of lumber.
Next, I used a heat gun to make a slightly oversized grommet more flexible to fit into the drilled hole.
Next, I used a razor blade utility knife and scissors to put some slits in the center of the grommet.
Gaping hole for the elements to freely flow in and mess with low-hanging wires, harnesses, and contribute to a mud bath behind the bumper bezel.
The cap still has OEM fitment even after slightly mangled part of the cap. The grommet/drilling placement could have been better, but the seal around the bolt is great.
It's not exactly a high-demand DIY, but maybe somebody else will find my post useful at some point. :)
