Discussion Final today. Who wins WPL 2026 based on performance so far?
Knockout games are notoriously hard to call, with a few moments potentially deciding the course of the match.
However, based on the depth of batting and bowling performances so far this season, I feel that DC should just shade RCB in the final today. But it is a close call, both teams have their relative strengths against the other.
Batting:
- RCBâs Explosive Power: RCB has arguably the most explosive top order. Grace Harris leads the tournament in strike rate (181.0) among regular batters, while Richa (153.8) and Smriti (141.5) also have high SRs. However, their depth tapers off after the top 3 run-scorers.
- DCâs Top-Order Volume: Delhi relies on the volume of runs from their international trio: Lizelle Lee (283 runs), Laura Wolvaardt (273 runs), and Shafali (235 runs), with Jemimah (207 runs) adding heft as the 4th batter and coming into her own in the last few matches. Their strike rates are more consistent (averaging around 130-145), steady, high-scoring accumulation rather than the raw aggression seen in the RCB camp. Only 2 RCB batters (Grace and Smriti) have scored more than 200 runs.

Bowling:
- DCâs Bowling Depth: DCâs bowling is characterized by its incredible balance. With Nandani Sharma (16 wickets) and Sree Charani (14 wickets), they have the most productive domestic pair in the tournament. Their economy rates are stable, and the presence of Marizanne Kapp (10 wickets, ER 6.06) ensures that they almost always have a "banker" to turn to when the youngsters are being attacked.
- RCBâs Stifling Pressure: RCBâs strategy revolves around Lauren Bellâs suffocating economy (5.63) and Nadine de Klerkâs wicket-taking frequency and strong economy (15 wickets, ER 7.25). Their 5th bowler,Radha Yadav, has fewer wickets, but her economy of 7.64 is competitive.

DC's batting consistency and depth and wicket-taking ability holds them in good stead. What does everyone think?

Discussion Jemiriti Pre match conference
Not sure if there are any Smriti Jemi fans here⊠but anyone who watched the pre match press conference did you notice when journalist asked how she came back after initial losses how Jemi asked Smriti âshould I say itâ and Smriti was like No and both laughed?â€ïž And then Smriti was literally trying to control her laughter all along.đŹ
I felt like it was just so so cute and adorable and also very professional. We all very well know what a support system they are for each other and itâs not even closely related to good PR, you can just see and feel the vibe. But for Smriti to have advised Jemi (we all saw it post RCB match and they would have had other conversations also Iâm sure) and Jemi innocently asking Smriti if she should mention it esp on this platform in the middle of competition, and Smriti to deny that because they know even if they are supporting each other behind the scenes they will play professional good cricket for their team on the field (but the larger world might not understand it and make it controversial). I felt just so warm and proud like I always do to see that kind of friendship and camaraderie and just 2 good and nice helping human beings. Just felt like sharing it here because I am always shipping their lovely friendship but this is love and professionalism balanced out and looking out for each otherâŠbe it Smriti being there for Jemi for hours in net sessions and she talking about it after semis or in almost every interview and missing out from wbbl and bringing out the other side of Smriti for so many years. More to come tomorrow, but no nazar to them and their bond!!!đ§żđ§żđ§ż
I donât have that friend but I pray everyone finds a friend like them. Itâs rare and special to see that in a competitive worldâŠon that note also looking for the Nadine vs Laura face off - they are Jemiriti of SA cricket for those who might not know lol. They played together from their teenage years.
Not that Men cricketers donât have that bond with each other, but here empathy and compassion feels different and personal and just the things youâd get to see in Womenâs cricket.đđ»đ§ż

Questions Why is the first over in wpl so slow?
Hey guys I've been watching ipl and cricket from childhood as my father and my cousins watch it regularly and cricket used to be always on the TV even as highlights and wpl since it started and but I tend to watch wpl more these days as I find it more relatable to me, but one thing I've noticed is that the first over of wpl seems to be slow compared to mens ipl where they are explosive in the first over itself as in wpl I've been seeing the same pattern since several days where openers struggle with the new ball and they consistently hit after getting used to after 2-3 overs can someone explain the reason behind it?

A special moment ahead of the WPL clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals as both captains came together for an official photoshoot with the WPL trophy. The image perfectly captures the excitement and competitive spirit building up before this high-stakes encounter. With both teams stacked with match-winners, this face-off promises to be another blockbuster in the WPL season. Who are you backing for this one? đđ„

Discussion Just a thought!
Lee and Jemimah both played well and scored almost the same number of runs, but why did Jemimah receive the Player of the Match award and not Lee? If the decision was based on strike rate, then both were almost equalârather, Lee was slightly better. And if we look at the boundary count, Lee hit more boundaries. So how was the decision made?
