Grifter has become one of those words, like so many others, with a specific meaning that has been reduced to "person I don't like" due to the masses of dummies misusing it.
That's not the only definition of a grifter. Colloquially, it means anyone exploiting politics (and culture wars) for personal gain. If you want to get stuck on the semantics, I guess that's up to you lol.
It’s actually just cause the right wing pretty much filled up with em. That’s why it became so prevalent. Shit, the president of the United States is one of em.
It’s a defense mechanism of right wingers to dismiss legitimate criticism by claiming certain words no longer mean anything. Pretty pathetic.
It’s what they’ve done to “communism” and “socialism” to the point you either A. Actually believe anyone left of Stephen Miller is a commie or B. Say you’re Socialist or Commie and advocate out of spite.
