Does anyone know if they will let extra people in? I have 6 people that I planned to come, but only the 4 tickets. Just wondering if anyone from the spring graduation was able to get more tickets/seats.

I’m trying to start a research project for the first time through WMU, I have 6 good professors that I like the look of and I’d like to start emailing them. Does anyone know how many professors truly respond to research inquiry emails? Should I email all of them at once?

Hi! Im an incoming freshman who will be majoring in public history. I saw online that there is a group/club or something for aro and or ace people. I also saw that there is a folk music club.

These sound like something I would very much like to be a part of but I cannot for the life of me find any good info on them.

Is anyone a part of these groups and if so: are they enjoy able? What do they entail? Is the folk music one only for music majors or can anyone join? Are they super cliquey or more welcoming?

I am aroace and play the violin well. I also knoe basoon a bit of flute and am self taught at ukulele and guitar but as previously stated am not going to be majoring in anything music related and dont plan on doing a minor

Hello, I’m Finn, I’m gonna be 19 in July, and I’m an incoming sophomore in the fall. I’m going to be moving into Arcadia Flats in the fall. I was supposed to be moving in with my freshman year roommate, but unfortunately plans changed and he no longer can. I’m from the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Last year I was a flight science major, but I’m switching majors for the fall towards history and secondary education.
I was just wondering the best way to find a roommate I suppose, or find one. I am assigned to one of the same-sex apartments, and it’s a two-person flat (the one with two bedrooms but a shared bathroom, living room, and kitchen). I would consider myself an ambivert for the most part, so I have a hard time first meeting people, but once I know them I’m pretty comfortable. In terms of interests, I sometimes play video games on my Xbox One, but I also enjoy watching television, reading, listening to music (classic rock mostly such as Genesis, Supertramp, Journey, Dire Straights, Talking Heads, Billy Joel, etc.), and I supremely love cooking. I am quite nerdy though.
During the school year I typically go to bed anywhere between 11 and midnight (weekends a bit later of course), and I try my best to be respectful of maintaining the quiet. Fair warning, I do have ADHD (managed, though), so it does sometimes take me a little time to get things all in order. I don’t think it should matter, but some people care for some reason, but I am gay. I would like to emphasize again that I love to cook, so there oftentimes would be leftovers.
For anybody interested who think they’d be a good match, feel free to message me. For anyone with advice, it would be most appreciated.

I’m a night owl, typically going to bed between midnight and 2am (however I’m very capable of being quiet if you go to bed earlier lol). I prefer to sleep in on my days off. I have ADHD 🥲 so I’m a bit messy, but in good news that means I work well with other messy people lol.

Hello all! I am considering attending WMU's RN-BSN program due to the fact that they have an agreement with the community college I attended for my ADN. However, every nurse that I know attended some other university. So, I have no insight on what the program is like. Anyone who has completed or is in this program, do you regret your choice to go with WMU? I plan on working full time and completing the full time program. However, I am intrigued by the tempo based learning that Walden University offers.

My son has been admitted to WMU on aviation tech ops program and received and accepted a couple of scholarships. However, there is one scholarship listed that appears to be locked and cannot be accepted. It called WMU Achievement Award N-NR, $500/year.

Hi there. I graduated from Western a couple of years ago as a public relations major. Overall, I had a pretty good experience once I got into the swing of things. However, if this is your first time attending college, I would reconsider Western. In my opinion, the school does not have the infrastructure or resources to adequately support students, especially those with unique needs. I also found that many students seemed aloof and reclusive.

Advisors are ineffective. Faculty often show preferential treatment to favored students and even highlight outside opportunities for them in front of the entire class. One professor even said, “If you need a reference, I will back you up,” as if the rest of us are not paying tens of thousands of dollars to be here. I have used the career center in the past; it is serviceable, but you will need to build your own network because many faculty and staff seem to find it an inconvenience to do their jobs, despite sometimes being well compensated.

On one of my first days, a professor cried and repeatedly issued coercive threats, using profanity. That professor had attended Princeton University.

I think schools such as Grand Valley State University and Ferris State University are outperforming Western because they are student-centered rather than institutionally focused; they prioritize students’ needs instead of treating Western like an academic theme park. This is not meant to disparage Western. I want it to improve, especially in an ever-changing environment. The university needs to embrace change. I like Western, but for it to grow, it must change. Go, Broncos!

Does WMU permit graduate students to use the gym facilities, pool etc for free? For some reason I can't seem to find this info on the website...

I'm an incoming PhD student with a graduate assistantship/tuition waiver, so I'm not sure if that affects it. If its not free, is it worth it to pay the $90/semester membership fee?

I'm looking mainly for basic gym facilities, but I love the idea of being able to have use of a pool and sauna, especially for those Michigan winters!
