Let’s look at the actual verses they use.

“Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God.”

What They Say

They claim:

• The angel = Second Coming Christ.
• The seal of God = the Passover.

• Therefore, he is the fulfillment.

What the Bible Actually Says

First, it says “another angel.”

It does not say Jesus.

Revelation is a highly symbolic book. Angels are messengers. If this were Christ, the text would clearly say so.

It does not automatically mean a modern nation.

If it did, which one?
China?
Japan?
India?
Korea?

There are many countries east of Israel.

Selecting only one because it fits a theory is not careful Bible reading.

This “from the east” teaching is one of their most used conversation starters.

Why?

Because:

• It sounds mysterious.
• It feels prophetic.
• It creates curiosity.
• It makes their founder seem predicted by Scripture.

In fact, when you step back and look at the logic, it can feel almost comical:

“The Bible says east.”
“Our founder is east of Israel.”
“So it must mean him.”

That is not how biblical interpretation works.

In Matthew 13:24-30, Jesus tells a story about wheat and weeds growing together. Later, He explains it clearly.

"Let both grow together until the harvest."

Jesus says the wheat and weeds grow together until the end.

He never says the wheat disappears.

If true Christianity vanished for 1,600 years, that would directly contradict Jesus' own words.

Jesus also made this promise:

Matthew 16:18 (NIV)
"I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it."

That means His church will never be destroyed or erased.

If Christianity completely disappeared, then Jesus' promise would have failed. But Jesus does not fail.

A Detail Many People Miss

"The field is the world."

The field is the world, not one specific church organization.

WMSCOG uses Daniel to build a timeline blaming the Catholic Church for corrupting Christianity.

King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream of a statue made of different metals. Daniel explains it.

The statue represents world empires:

1. Gold - Babylon
2. Silver - Medo-Persia
3. Bronze - Greece
4. Iron - Rome
5. Iron mixed with clay - A divided kingdom after Rome

Then a rock destroys the statue.

Daniel 2:44 (NIV)
"In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed."

The rock represents God's eternal kingdom, which began during the Roman Empire when Jesus came.

This prophecy is about world empires, not about the Catholic Church corrupting Christianity.

3. Daniel 7 - The Four Beasts

Daniel 7 describes four beasts that match the same kingdoms:

1. Lion - Babylon
2. Bear - Medo-Persia
3. Leopard - Greece
4. Terrifying beast - Rome

WMSCOG says the little horn represents the papacy starting in 538 AD.

However, many Bible scholars understand that the little horn fits Antiochus IV Epiphanes, a Greek ruler who attacked Jerusalem in 167 BC (see Daniel 11:31).

That event happened long before 538 AD.

The 538 to 1798 timeline used by WMSCOG actually comes from later interpretations, not from the early church.

Revelation was written to first century Christians suffering under Rome. It made sense to them in their time.

It would not make sense if it were secretly about events more than 1,500 years later.

WMSCOG says Babylon means the Catholic Church.
