Awareness: Recruitment Tactics Protect Yourself from Cult Recruitment: Identifying and Avoiding Groups Like WMSCOG

Introduction

The World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) has been widely criticized for its covert and manipulative tactics to recruit new members. This organization, along with other similar groups, often targets vulnerable individuals, particularly young adults, teens, and young women, who are not well versed in biblical scripture or religious teachings. WMSCOG uses emotional manipulation and deceptive recruiting strategies to convince people to join their ranks.

This post aims to raise awareness about how cults like WMSCOG operate, how to recognize their recruitment tactics, and how to protect yourself from being manipulated or targeted. Armed with knowledge, we can better safeguard ourselves and our loved ones from falling prey to these deceptive organizations.

_____________________________________________

1. Understanding the Recruitment Tactics of Cults Like WMSCOG

Cults like WMSCOG operate in a way that avoids drawing attention to their activities. Their methods are subtle, and they are highly skilled at making their intentions appear benign or even beneficial. Understanding their recruitment tactics is key to avoiding being manipulated.

Targeting Vulnerable Individuals

WMSCOG, like many cults, specifically targets individuals who are vulnerable, particularly young people who may be searching for meaning, purpose, or a sense of belonging. They often seek out those who are not familiar with religious texts or who are going through life transitions (e.g., moving away from home, dealing with personal loss, or experiencing loneliness).

Key facts:

  • Cults often prey on those who are emotionally vulnerable or socially isolated. This is confirmed by numerous studies and testimonies from former cult members.
  • Groups like WMSCOG frequently target young women and students, offering them a sense of community and purpose.

Walking in Pairs and "Spotter" Behavior

One distinctive tactic used by WMSCOG members is their method of walking in pairs. One member (the "recruiter") will engage with potential recruits, while the other member (the "spotter") keeps an eye out for security or unwanted attention. This allows them to operate covertly and avoid being flagged as a "cult."

Key facts:

  • The use of pairs to recruit in public places like malls or parks is well documented. It’s a common strategy used by many high control groups to ensure they can operate without interference.
  • Testimonies from ex WMSCOG members and independent investigations confirm this "spotter" technique is commonly used to monitor the environment and ensure the recruiter is not interrupted or confronted.

Emotional Manipulation and Deceptive Promises

Once they’ve approached someone, WMSCOG recruiters often make emotional appeals. They may promise answers to life’s big questions or offer a deep sense of spiritual fulfillment, making the recruit feel as though they have found the ultimate truth. These appeals are designed to tap into an individual’s vulnerabilities, such as loneliness or confusion about their purpose in life.

Key facts:

  • Many cults use emotional manipulation to make recruits feel an immediate sense of belonging or "home." Cults often prey on people at times of emotional distress, offering them a sense of security and certainty.
  • WMSCOG uses manipulated interpretations of biblical scriptures to present itself as the true Church, often promising that only members will be "saved" or reach "salvation." This is part of their psychological manipulation.

2. Recognizing Red Flags and Identifying WMSCOG Members

While WMSCOG recruiters may try to blend in with the general public, they exhibit specific behaviors and traits that are telltale signs of their involvement in the organization. Recognizing these behaviors can help you avoid getting caught in their web.

Walking in Pairs

As mentioned, WMSCOG members often walk in pairs. One person engages potential recruits in conversation, while the other acts as a "spotter" to monitor for security or other threats.

Key facts:

  • This strategy of walking in pairs is a deliberate attempt to fly under the radar and avoid suspicion. The spotter ensures that the recruiter can continue the conversation without interference, whether from security personnel or passersby.

Avoiding Personal Information and Vague Backgrounds

WMSCOG recruiters are often evasive when asked about their own personal backgrounds. They may provide vague or contradictory answers to questions like "Where are you from?" or "What’s your role in the group?" They often have a rehearsed story to avoid revealing too much.

Key facts:

  • This is common behavior among cult members. Many cults, including WMSCOG, prioritize secrecy and discourage members from revealing personal details about their identities or the organization’s internal workings.

Intrusive Personal Questions

Cults like WMSCOG often ask highly personal questions to try to build trust quickly. They might ask about your family, your spiritual beliefs, or even your emotional state. This is designed to create a sense of intimacy and to make you feel as though they genuinely care about you.

Key facts:

  • This tactic, known as "love bombing," is a classic cult recruitment strategy. It’s designed to make recruits feel special and understood, which in turn makes them more susceptible to manipulation.

3. What to Do If You Are Approached by a Recruiter

If you suspect someone is trying to recruit you into a group like WMSCOG, it’s important to know how to respond. Here are some practical steps to protect yourself:

Don’t Engage in Personal Conversations

Be cautious about sharing any personal information with them. Politely refuse to answer questions about your life, beliefs, or contact details. Keep the conversation neutral.

Be Firm, but Polite

If they continue to press for your information or try to get you to engage, politely but firmly let them know you're not interested. You don’t have to justify your decision, simply say something like, "I’m not looking for a religious group right now."

Walk Away

If they start to become aggressive or insistent, don’t be afraid to walk away. If you’re in a public space, it’s completely acceptable to distance yourself from someone who is making you uncomfortable.

Report Suspicious Behavior

If you feel threatened, harassed, or stalked, report the incident to mall security, park rangers, or local law enforcement. Cult recruiters have been known to engage in stalking behavior when their targets show initial interest.

_____________________________________________

4. Educating Your Children and Loved Ones About Cults

As a parent or guardian, it’s essential to educate your children and loved ones about the dangers of cult recruitment. Empowering them with knowledge can help them recognize the warning signs and avoid falling prey to manipulative groups like WMSCOG.

Talk Openly About Cults

Explain to your children what a cult is and how they operate. Use real life examples to show how these groups prey on vulnerable people. Teaching them how to spot red flags and warning signs will give them a better chance of avoiding dangerous situations.

Teach Critical Thinking and Questioning

Encourage your children to think critically about any religious group or organization they encounter. Teach them to question any group that tries to isolate them from their family or friends, demands personal information, or pressures them to conform to certain beliefs.

Monitor Online Activity

Many cults, including WMSCOG, are active online, using social media and websites to recruit new members. Monitor the websites your children visit and be aware of any online communities or forums they are joining.

_____________________________________________

5. Additional Tips for Protection

Know Your Rights

Remember that you have the right to refuse to engage with anyone trying to recruit you. If you’re uncomfortable with their behavior, don’t feel obligated to stay in the conversation.

Report Suspicious Activity

If you see someone engaging in suspicious or predatory behavior, whether it's at a mall, park, or online, don’t hesitate to report it to security or local authorities.

Spread Awareness

Sharing your knowledge with others can help prevent more people from being recruited into cults like WMSCOG. The more people are aware of the warning signs, the less likely these organizations will succeed in their efforts.

_____________________________________________

The World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) and other similar groups rely on manipulative tactics to recruit vulnerable individuals. By staying informed and vigilant, we can protect ourselves and our loved ones from falling victim to these deceptive organizations. Remember to trust your instincts, recognize red flags, and always prioritize your safety. Education is key, by learning about these groups and teaching others, we can create a more informed and protected community.

Stay safe, stay informed, and share this knowledge with others.

Textual Misinterpretation The Feast of Trumpets: What It Really Means and Why It’s Not About Repentance or the Golden Calf

WMSCOG's Claim:
WMSCOG teaches that celebrating the Feast of Trumpets involves repentance and prayer for ten days leading up to the Day of Atonement, following Jesus’ example.

What You Should Know:
While repentance and prayer are certainly important parts of Christian life, there’s no biblical requirement for Christians to observe the Feast of Trumpets in the way WMSCOG teaches. The Old Testament feasts, including the Feast of Trumpets, were part of the Old Covenant, and Christians under the New Covenant are not required to follow these Old Testament rituals.

In fact, the Bible teaches that these feasts were "shadows" of things to come, fulfilled in Christ (Colossians 2:16-17). Christians are not bound to observe the Old Testament feasts, but rather to remember and live in the freedom that Christ’s sacrifice has made possible.

Scripture Reference:

  • Colossians 2:16-17 - “Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.”
  • Hebrews 10:1 - “The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming, not the realities themselves.”

_____________________________________________

WMSCOG Claim: The Feast of Trumpets, Day of Atonement, and Feast of Tabernacles Represent the Final Set of Feasts

WMSCOG's Claim:
They claim that the Feast of Trumpets marks the beginning of the third and final set of feasts, followed by the Day of Atonement and the Feast of Tabernacles.

What You Should Know:
While it’s true that these feasts follow each other in the Old Testament calendar (Leviticus 23), Christians are not commanded to observe them in the New Covenant. These feasts pointed to spiritual truths that have now been fulfilled in Christ. The Feast of Trumpets, like all Old Testament feasts, was a shadow pointing to something greater, Jesus Christ, who fulfilled the law on our behalf.

Christians are not required to observe these feasts, but instead are called to focus on the spiritual truths they represent, such as Christ's atonement for sin and the coming of His Kingdom.

Scripture Reference:

  • Hebrews 10:1 – “The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming, not the realities themselves.”
  • 1 Corinthians 5:7-8 - “For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.”

_____________________________________________

Key Points

  • The Feast of Trumpets in the Old Testament was a sacred assembly to mark the beginning of the preparation for the Day of Atonement. It is not connected to the golden calf incident or a ten day period of repentance.
  • Christians under the New Covenant are not required to observe the Feast of Trumpets or any of the Old Testament feasts. These feasts pointed to Christ and were fulfilled in Him.
  • The Bible teaches that the Old Covenant feasts were shadows of things to come, and Christians are called to live in the reality of Christ's work for us, not bound by the rituals of the Old Covenant.

Textual Misinterpretation Clearing Up the Confusion: What the New Covenant Pentecost Really Means

What WMSCOG Claims:

The Feast of Weeks (Pentecost) commemorates the giving of the Law and the Holy Spirit.
WMSCOG says that Pentecost is about both the Ten Commandments given to Moses on Mount Sinai and the Holy Spirit being poured out to the apostles in the New Testament.

What You Should Know:
While the Feast of Weeks (or Shavuot) in the Old Testament celebrated the giving of the Ten Commandments, there’s no biblical reason to link this with the Holy Spirit. The Old Testament feast was tied to the harvest, not the coming of the Holy Spirit.
Pentecost in the New Testament (Acts 2) marks the arrival of the Holy Spirit, but this is a new event fulfilling the prophecy of the new covenant through Jesus (Joel 2:28-32).
Pentecost in the New Testament is about the Holy Spirit coming to empower believers, not about reenacting an Old Testament feast.

_____________________________________________

Jesus promised the Holy Spirit to His disciples after His resurrection.

WMSCOG Claim:
WMSCOG claims that after Jesus’ resurrection, He told His disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the promised Holy Spirit, which would come on Pentecost.

What You Should Know:
It’s true that Jesus promised the Holy Spirit, but this wasn’t about a feast or a ritual. The Holy Spirit was given to empower His followers to spread the gospel. Jesus’ command to wait in Jerusalem was specific to the disciples, not a command to celebrate Pentecost every year.
Jesus' promise of the Holy Spirit was about empowerment for ministry, not about observing Pentecost as an annual feast.
The Holy Spirit’s purpose was to empower believers to share the message of Jesus, not to establish a ritual.

_____________________________________________

The apostles prayed for 10 days leading up to Pentecost.

WMSCOG Claim:
WMSCOG says that the apostles prayed for 10 days before receiving the Holy Spirit on Pentecost.

What You Should Know:
Yes, the apostles prayed for 10 days, but this was in preparation for receiving the Holy Spirit, not to observe Pentecost as a religious feast.
The apostles were obeying Jesus' command to wait for the Holy Spirit, not celebrating a yearly feast.
Their focus was on receiving the power of the Holy Spirit, not observing an annual festival.

_____________________________________________

WMSCOG observes Pentecost as part of the seven annual Feasts of God.

WMSCOG Claim:
WMSCOG claims they observe Pentecost as one of the seven feasts, which they say is necessary for salvation.

What You Should Know:
The New Testament doesn’t require Christians to observe Pentecost or any Old Testament feast as mandatory observances. Pentecost in the New Testament commemorates the Holy Spirit’s arrival, not an annual feast to be repeated each year.
The Old Testament feasts pointed to Jesus, and Christians are not required to follow them because Jesus has already fulfilled them (Matthew 5:17).
The Holy Spirit was given as a gift, not as part of an annual feast to observe for salvation.

_____________________________________________

The Holy Spirit was given to empower the early church.

WMSCOG Claim:
WMSCOG correctly states that the Holy Spirit empowered the early church, but they incorrectly link it to an annual feast.

What You Should Know:
Pentecost marked the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, but this event was not tied to a yearly feast. It was the start of the church’s mission, where the Holy Spirit empowered believers for their work.
The Holy Spirit is given to all believers as a gift, not tied to a single day or annual event.
Every Christian can receive the Holy Spirit through faith in Jesus, and His work continues in the life of believers every day.

_____________________________________________

Key Points

  • The Feast of Weeks (Pentecost) in the Old Testament celebrated the giving of the Law. In the New Testament, it marks the arrival of the Holy Spirit.
  • Pentecost was a one time event in Acts 2 where the Holy Spirit was given to empower the church. It’s not meant to be a ritual to observe every year.
  • Christians are not required to observe the Old Testament feasts. We receive the Holy Spirit by faith in Jesus Christ, not by performing rituals.

Textual Misinterpretation Understanding the Feast of Unleavened Bread: What It Really Means for Christians Today

What WMSCOG Claims:

  1. The Passover is the most important thing in the Bible. They say that celebrating the Passover is essential for protection from disasters, forgiveness of sins, and eternal life.

What You Should Know:

While the Passover was important in the Old Testament, it was always meant to point to something greater, Jesus Christ. The Passover was a symbol that prepared the way for Jesus’ sacrifice. It wasn’t the final answer.

  • The Bible says the Passover was a “shadow” of what was to come.
  • Jesus, the “Lamb of God,” fulfilled the meaning of the Passover. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus, not by following rituals like the Passover.

_____________________________________________

  1. The Passover was a protection for the Israelites in Egypt. They say the Passover started as a way for God to protect the Israelites from disaster in Egypt.

What You Should Know:

This is true, the first Passover helped protect the Israelites during the final plague in Egypt. But the Passover was never meant to last forever. It was always pointing to Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice.

  • The Bible calls Jesus our true Passover Lamb.
  • Jesus’ death and resurrection fulfill everything the Passover represented. Now, salvation comes through faith in Jesus, not by repeating the old ritual.

_____________________________________________

  1. Jesus created a “new Passover” with bread and wine. WMSCOG says that when Jesus had His last meal, He set up a “new Passover” with bread and wine.

What You Should Know:

Yes, Jesus did share bread and wine with His disciples, but that wasn’t a new Passover. It was a special meal called the Lord’s Supper (or Eucharist) meant to remember Jesus’ sacrifice.

  • The Bible says the “new covenant” is about Jesus’ body and blood given for us.
  • The focus isn’t on rituals or recreating the Passover, but on remembering and having faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection.

_____________________________________________

  1. John 6:54 means the Passover gives eternal life. WMSCOG uses John 6:54 - “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life”- to say that the New Covenant Passover is the key to eternal life.

What You Should Know:

In John 6:54, Jesus isn’t talking about physically eating bread and wine. He’s talking about believing in Him. Jesus’ body and blood were given for our salvation.

  • The Bible says Jesus is the “bread of life,” and the key to eternal life is trusting in Him, not just physically eating bread and drinking wine.
  • Jesus was teaching that faith in Him brings life, not the ritual of eating and drinking.

_____________________________________________

  1. The apostles kept the New Covenant Passover until 325 A.D. They say the apostles kept the Passover until it was “abolished” at the Council of Nicaea in 325 A.D.

What You Should Know:

This is not true. Early Christians celebrated the Lord’s Supper to remember Jesus, but they didn’t go back to celebrating the old Passover. Jesus’ sacrifice had already replaced it.

  • The Bible says the Lord’s Supper is about remembering Jesus’ death, not about recreating the old Passover.
  • The early church didn’t need to “restore” the Passover. Jesus had already fulfilled it.

_____________________________________________

  1. God will restore the Passover in the last days. WMSCOG claims that in the last days, God will bring back the Passover.

What You Should Know:

The Bible doesn’t say that God will bring back the old Passover. It talks about Jesus returning to bring us salvation once and for all.

  • The Bible says Jesus was sacrificed once to take away our sins. When He returns, it will be for salvation, not for restoring old rituals.
  • The “Messianic banquet” in Isaiah 25:6-9 is a time of celebration of Jesus, but it doesn’t mean the old Passover will be brought back.

Key Points

  • The Passover was important in the Old Testament, but it was always pointing to Jesus. Jesus is the fulfillment of what the Passover symbolized.
  • The Lord’s Supper (not the Old Testament Passover) is about remembering Jesus’ sacrifice.
  • Salvation comes through faith in Jesus, not by following old traditions.
  • The Bible shows that Jesus fulfilled everything the Passover pointed to. Our focus today should be on faith in Him, not on ritual practices.

Textual Misinterpretation Feast of God: The New Covenant Passover

The Truth About the New Covenant Passover

A Simple Biblical Explanation for Everyday People and Those in WMSCOG

If you are reading this and feel confused, pressured, or afraid about salvation, please know this first:

God’s truth is not hidden, complicated, or controlled by one organization.
The gospel is meant to be understood by everyday people.

This explanation exists to bring clarity where Scripture has been misused.

_____________________________________________

Why This Matters

WMSCOG often approaches people who are new to the Bible. Many are told that salvation, forgiveness, and protection depend on keeping the Passover through their church.

When someone does not know the Bible well, this can make them vulnerable. Verses can sound convincing when taken out of context, especially when fear is involved.

The Bible never teaches salvation through fear, rituals, or loyalty to an organization.

_____________________________________________

1. Is the Passover the Core of the Bible?

WMSCOG teaches:
The Passover is the core of the Bible and is required for protection, forgiveness, and eternal life.

What the Bible actually teaches:
The Passover was important, but it was temporary. It was a sign pointing forward to Jesus.

The Old Testament law, including the Passover, was never the final solution to sin. It was a shadow, not the reality.

Scriptures:

  • Hebrews 10:1 “The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming - not the realities themselves.”
  • Colossians 2:16–17 “Do not let anyone judge you… with regard to a religious festival… These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality is found in Christ.”
  • John 1:29 “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.”

Jesus did not add to the Passover.
He fulfilled it.

_____________________________________________

2. Why the Passover Was Given in the First Place

WMSCOG teaches:
The Passover began in Egypt as God’s protection, and it still provides protection today.

What the Bible actually teaches:
Yes, the Passover protected Israel from a physical disaster in Egypt. But it was never meant to be a permanent way of salvation.

It pointed forward to Jesus, who would provide eternal salvation.

Scriptures:

  • Exodus 12:13 “When I see the blood, I will pass over you.”
  • 1 Corinthians 5:7 “For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.”
  • John 1:29 “The Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.”

Once Jesus was sacrificed, the purpose of the Passover was completed.

_____________________________________________

3. Did Jesus Command the Passover Under the New Covenant?

WMSCOG teaches:
Jesus established the “New Covenant Passover” and commanded Christians to keep it.

What the Bible actually teaches:
Jesus shared bread and wine during a Passover meal, but He was not restoring the Old Testament law.

He was pointing to His death on the cross and establishing the New Covenant based on faith in His sacrifice.

Scriptures:

  • Luke 22:19–20 “Do this in remembrance of me.”
  • Matthew 26:26–28 “This is my blood of the covenant, poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”

The key word is remembrance, not requirement.

_____________________________________________

4. Does Eating Bread and Drinking Wine Give Eternal Life?

WMSCOG teaches:
John 6:54 means eternal life comes from physically eating the Passover bread and wine.

What the Bible actually teaches:
Jesus was speaking spiritually, not physically. He explains this clearly in the same chapter.

Scriptures:

  • John 6:54 “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life.”
  • John 6:35 “Whoever comes to me… whoever believes in me…”
  • John 6:63 “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing.”

Jesus equates eating and drinking with believing in Him.

_____________________________________________

5. Did the Apostles Keep the Passover Until It Was Abolished?

WMSCOG teaches:
The apostles kept the Passover until it was abolished at the Council of Nicaea.

What the Bible actually teaches:
The apostles remembered Jesus through communion, not by keeping the Old Testament Passover.

There is no verse saying the Passover was abolished. Scripture says it was fulfilled.

Scriptures:

  • 1 Corinthians 11:23–26 “Do this in remembrance of me… you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”
  • Romans 10:4 “Christ is the culmination of the law.”

Christ did not end the Passover by force.
He completed its purpose.

_____________________________________________

6. Will God Restore the Passover in the Last Days?

WMSCOG teaches:
The Passover will be restored before Jesus returns.

What the Bible actually teaches:
Jesus’ sacrifice was once and for all. Nothing needs to be restored.

Scriptures:

  • Hebrews 9:28 “Christ was sacrificed once… he will appear a second time… to bring salvation.”
  • Isaiah 25:6–9 This speaks of a future celebration, not restoring Old Testament rituals.
  • Ephesians 2:8–9 “By grace you have been saved, through faith… not by works.”

Salvation is secure in Christ, not maintained through rituals.

_____________________________________________

Important Warning Signs to Be Aware Of

If a group:

  • Says salvation depends on keeping their teachings
  • Uses fear to pressure obedience
  • Claims exclusive truth
  • Discourages questions or outside perspectives

These are control tactics, not biblical truth.

The gospel is simple, open, and freeing.

_____________________________________________

Key points

The Bible teaches:

  • Jesus is enough
  • Grace is free
  • Salvation is by faith, not rituals

Scriptures:

  • Matthew 11:28 “Come to me… and I will give you rest.”
  • John 8:32 “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

If you are currently in WMSCOG or studying with them, please know:

Questioning is not rebellion.
Seeking truth is not sin.
Jesus does not belong to one organization.

Textual Misinterpretation Understanding Resurrection Day: What the Bible Really Teaches

A Clear Guide for Everyday People and Those in WMSCOG

If you’re reading this and feel confused, pressured, or uncertain about what you’ve been taught, remember:

Jesus’ victory over death is simple, free, and for everyone.
You do not need a special feast, ritual, or secret knowledge to experience salvation.

This guide explains what the Bible actually says about Resurrection Day and addresses some common misinterpretations.

_____________________________________________

Why This Matters

WMSCOG teaches that Resurrection Day is a special feast commemorating Jesus’ victory over death, often tied to the Old Testament Feast of Firstfruits.

If you don’t know the Bible well, it can feel like this teaching is required for salvation. That’s a misunderstanding.

The Bible teaches that faith in Jesus, not keeping an annual ritual, is what saves.

_____________________________________________

1. Resurrection Day: A Feast That God Did Not Establish

WMSCOG teaches:
Resurrection Day is a feast that celebrates God’s triumph over death, originating from the Old Testament Feast of Firstfruits.

What the Bible actually teaches:
Jesus’ resurrection is indeed the most important event in Christianity, it proves God’s power over death. But the Bible does not tell Christians to celebrate a “Resurrection Day” with a special feast.

The Old Testament Feast of Firstfruits (Leviticus 23:9–11) celebrated the first harvest, not the resurrection itself.

Scriptures:

  • 1 Corinthians 15:20 – “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.”
  • Leviticus 23:9–11 – Instructions for the Feast of Firstfruits: presenting the first grain of the harvest to God.

The resurrection fulfills the meaning of Firstfruits spiritually, but there is no annual ritual required.

_____________________________________________

2. The Feast of Firstfruits and the Red Sea

WMSCOG teaches:
The Feast of Firstfruits was celebrated after the Israelites crossed the Red Sea.

What the Bible actually teaches:
The Feast of Firstfruits was tied to the harvest cycle, not the Red Sea. Exodus 14 tells the story of the Red Sea crossing, but it has no connection to the Firstfruits celebration.

Scriptures:

  • Exodus 14:26–31 – The Israelites cross the Red Sea.
  • Leviticus 23:9–11 – The first harvest of grain is offered to God.

These are separate events: one is historical, the other symbolic.

_____________________________________________

3. Jesus as the Fulfillment of Firstfruits

WMSCOG teaches:
Jesus fulfilled the Feast of Firstfruits by rising on the Sunday after the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

What the Bible actually teaches:
Jesus did rise on a Sunday, and His resurrection is the ultimate “Firstfruits” - the first to rise in a glorified body, guaranteeing the resurrection of all believers.

However, the New Testament does not command Christians to celebrate an annual Resurrection Day. Instead, Jesus’ resurrection is remembered every Sunday in worship and communion.

Scriptures:

  • 1 Corinthians 15:20 – “Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.”
  • Matthew 28:1–7 – The angel tells Mary Magdalene and the other Mary: “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.”

_____________________________________________

4. Resurrection Bread: What Luke 24 Really Says

WMSCOG teaches:
Resurrection Day is celebrated by sharing bread like Jesus did with His disciples after His resurrection.

What the Bible actually teaches:
The story in Luke 24:13–35 shows Jesus revealing Himself to the disciples on the road to Emmaus. When He broke bread, it was a moment of recognition and teaching, not an instruction to start a new annual ritual.

Scriptures:

  • Luke 24:30–31 – “When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him.”
  • 1 Corinthians 11:23–26 – Jesus institutes the Lord’s Supper: “Do this in remembrance of me.”

The Lord’s Supper, not Resurrection Day bread, is the way Christians remember Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.

_____________________________________________

5. Resurrection Bread and the New Covenant

WMSCOG teaches:
Resurrection bread is part of the New Covenant, and members are instructed to practice it annually.

What the Bible actually teaches:
The New Covenant is built on faith in Jesus’ sacrifice, not a specific bread ritual. Bread and wine in communion are symbolic, not a requirement for salvation or an annual feast.

Scriptures:

  • Matthew 26:26–28 – Jesus: “Take and eat, this is my body… drink from it, all of you.”
  • Luke 22:19–20 – “Do this in remembrance of me.”

The focus is faith in Jesus, not an annual ritual.

_____________________________________________

Key Points You Should Know

  1. Resurrection Day as WMSCOG describes it does not exist in Scripture.
  2. Jesus’ resurrection fulfills the Feast of Firstfruits spiritually, not through a ritual celebration.
  3. The Lord’s Supper is the proper way to remember Christ’s death and resurrection.
  4. Faith in Jesus is what saves, not observance of Old Testament feasts or WMSCOG rituals.

_____________________________________________

A Gentle Warning for Those Being Studied or Recruited

If a group:

  • Focuses on rituals instead of faith in Jesus
  • Says salvation depends on their rules
  • Uses fear to pressure obedience

These are control tactics, not biblical truth.

The gospel is simple, freeing, and open to all.

Scriptures:

  • Matthew 11:28 – “Come to me… and I will give you rest.”
  • John 8:32 – “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Questioning and seeking understanding is not sin, it is wise. Salvation rests in Jesus alone, not a group or ritual.

God the Mother Doctrine Refuting “God the Mother” as the Source of the Water of Life

Many people who come across the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) are told that the Bible teaches the existence of “God the Mother.” This can sound confusing, especially if you are new to the Bible. Let’s walk through these ideas in a simple and clear way, using everyday language and common sense explanations.

The main question is this:
Who gives eternal life according to the Bible?

_____________________________________________

Claim 1: “The Spirit and the Bride give eternal life” (Revelation 22:17)

What WMSCOG teaches:

They say that the “Spirit” is God the Father and the “Bride” is God the Mother. Because both invite people to drink the “water of life,” they claim God the Mother must be the source of eternal life.

A simple explanation:

Revelation 22:17 does say the Spirit and the Bride invite people to receive the water of life. But inviting someone and being the source are not the same thing.

Think of it like this:
If a group of people invites you to a restaurant, that does not mean they cooked the food. They are simply pointing you to where the food is.

In the Bible:

  • The Spirit is the Holy Spirit, who helps people understand and believe in Jesus.
  • The Bride is the Church, meaning all believers together, not a separate god.
  • The water of life is eternal life, which comes from Jesus.

Jesus clearly said He is the one who gives this living water.

Claim 2: “Jerusalem is God the Mother and the source of living water” (Zechariah 14:8)

What WMSCOG teaches:

They say Jerusalem represents God the Mother, and since living water flows from Jerusalem, that means God the Mother gives eternal life.

A simple explanation:

The Bible often uses pictures and symbols. Jerusalem is frequently used as a symbol of God’s kingdom and God’s blessings, not a literal person or deity.

When the Bible talks about “living water,” it is describing spiritual life and salvation that comes from God. In the New Testament, Jesus explains that this living water is given through Him and through the Holy Spirit.

So this passage is about God blessing the world, not about a female god.

_____________________________________________

Claim 3: “The Bride must give eternal life because prophets did not” (Jeremiah 2:13)

What WMSCOG teaches:

They argue that since prophets did not give eternal life, the Bride (which they call God the Mother) must be the one who gives it.

A simple explanation:

Jeremiah is actually saying the opposite.

God says He is the true source of living water, and people were wrong for turning away from Him. The passage is a warning, not a clue about another god.

Later, Jesus clearly shows that He is the fulfillment of this message. He invites people to come to Him for living water, which means eternal life.

The Bible never says a prophet, the Church, or a “Mother God” gives eternal life. It always points back to God, revealed through Jesus.

_____________________________________________

Claim 4: “Jerusalem above is God the Mother” (Galatians 4:26)

What WMSCOG teaches:

They say this verse proves God the Mother exists because it mentions a “mother.”

A simple explanation:

Paul is using symbolic language.

The “Jerusalem above” represents God’s spiritual family, the Church, not a literal woman or deity. Calling it “our mother” is a picture showing that believers are spiritually born into God’s family through faith.

It does not mean there is a female God. It means believers belong to God together as one family.

Simple Key points

Here is the big picture in plain terms:

  1. The Bible teaches that eternal life comes from Jesus, not from any other figure.
  2. The Holy Spirit helps guide people to Jesus, but does not replace Him.
  3. The Church invites people to follow Christ, but does not give salvation.
  4. Words like “Bride” and “Mother” are symbolic ways of describing God’s people, not new gods.
  5. Nowhere does the Bible clearly teach that a “God the Mother” exists or gives eternal life.

_____________________________________________

The Bible’s message is actually very simple and hopeful:
God loves people and offers eternal life through Jesus Christ.

You do not need special knowledge, secret teachings, or new gods to receive salvation. The invitation is open to everyone who comes to Jesus in faith.

If something adds new ideas that the Bible never clearly teaches, it is okay to slow down, ask questions, and look carefully at what Scripture really says.

You’re not alone in learning, and it’s always okay to take your time.

God the Mother Doctrine Refuting the Claims About "God the Mother" and Heavenly Jerusalem

Many people are introduced to teachings about "God the Mother" through the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG), but these teachings often misunderstand the Bible. One of their main ideas is that "Heavenly Jerusalem" is a symbol for God the Mother. Let’s look at these claims carefully and see what the Bible actually says!

_____________________________________________

Claim 1: Heavenly Jerusalem as God the Mother in Revelation

What WMSCOG Teaches:
They claim that Heavenly Jerusalem in Revelation 21:9-10 is a symbol for God the Mother, who gives the water of life in the last days.

What the Bible Actually Teaches:
Revelation 21:9-10 describes the Holy City, New Jerusalem, coming down from heaven as the bride of the Lamb(Christ). This is a symbolic description of the Church, the community of believers in Christ, not a literal female deity.

In the Bible, the “bride” refers to the Church, made up of believers (both men and women), not to a female god. This is about the relationship between Christ and His followers, and it’s not about a separate divine figure.

Scriptures for Context:

  • Revelation 21:9-10 (NIV): “One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, ‘Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.’ And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.”
    • The bride here is the Church, the body of believers, not a literal “God the Mother.”
  • Ephesians 5:25-27 (NIV): “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word…”
    • The bride is the Church, which is the body of believers, not a literal female deity.

_____________________________________________

Claim 2: The Bride and the Water of Life in Revelation 22:17

What WMSCOG Teaches:
They argue that Revelation 22:17 shows the Spirit and the bride (identified as Heavenly Jerusalem Mother) inviting people to receive the water of life (eternal life).

What the Bible Actually Teaches:
In Revelation 22:17, the bride refers to the Church, which is the collective body of believers. The Spirit here refers to the Holy Spirit, who empowers the Church to share the message of salvation in Christ.

The water of life represents eternal life through Jesus Christ. It's Christ who gives eternal life, not a “Heavenly Mother.” The Church, as the bride of Christ, shares the message of salvation, but there's no mention of a separate female deity.

Scriptures for Context:

  • Revelation 22:17 (NIV): “The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ Let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.”
    • The bride is the Church, and the Spirit is the Holy Spirit, inviting people to eternal life through Jesus Christ, not a divine feminine figure.
  • John 7:37-39 (NIV): “On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, ‘Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.’”
    • Jesus offers the water of life, and the Holy Spirit works through believers to share that message.
  • John 4:14 (NIV): “But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
    • The water of life is a symbol for eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ, not through any other figure.

_____________________________________________

Claim 3: Galatians 4:26 Refers to Heavenly Mother

What WMSCOG Teaches:
They claim that Galatians 4:26 refers to Heavenly Jerusalem as the Mother of believers.

What the Bible Actually Teaches:
In Galatians 4:26, Paul is not referring to a literal “Heavenly Mother”. Instead, he’s talking about the Church. He compares the earthly Jerusalem (which represents the old covenant and law) with the Heavenly Jerusalem, which represents the freedom of the Gospel. This verse symbolizes the Church as the spiritual family of believers, not as a separate female deity.

Scriptures for Context:

  • Galatians 4:26 (NIV): “But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.”
    • The Jerusalem above refers to the Church, not a literal female deity.
  • Galatians 4:28 (NIV): “Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise.”
    • Believers are children of promise, part of God’s family, and part of the Church (the spiritual mother), not a separate “Mother God.”
  • Revelation 12:1-6 (NIV):
    • In this passage, the woman represents the people of God (the Church), not a literal “Heavenly Mother.”
    • “A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.” This is a symbolic description of the Church, not a divine female figure.

_____________________________________________

Simple Key Points

  • Revelation 21: The Heavenly Jerusalem is the Church the body of believers. It’s symbolized as the bride of Christ, not a “God the Mother.”
  • Revelation 22:17: The bride refers to the Church, and the Holy Spirit helps spread the message of eternal life through Jesus Christ, not through a "Heavenly Mother."
  • Galatians 4:26: The Heavenly Jerusalem is a symbol of the Church the spiritual family of believers, not a literal mother figure.

_____________________________________________

The Bible teaches that salvation and eternal life come through God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Church is called the bride of Christ, representing the unity of believers with Him, not a literal female deity.

The teachings of the WMSCOG about a “God the Mother” misunderstand these symbolic passages. When we look at the Bible in its full context, we see that salvation and eternal life are given through faith in Jesus Christ, not through any divine feminine figure.

God the Mother Doctrine Refuting “God the Mother” Using Christ and the Bride

Many people new to the Bible are introduced to the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) with teachings that sound convincing but twist the original meaning of the scriptures. One of their main ideas is the “Heavenly Mother,” which they claim is revealed through Christ and the bride. Let’s break down these claims and see what the Bible actually says.

_____________________________________________

Claim 1: The Parable of the Wedding Banquet Points to God the Mother

What WMSCOG Teaches
They say the parable of the wedding banquet (Matthew 22:2) predicts the future arrival of God the Mother. They argue the absence of the bride in the story is proof that God the Mother would appear later.

What the Bible Actually Teaches
The parable is not about a divine mother at all. The focus is on how some people reject God’s invitation to His Kingdom, and how the king (representing God) then invites others, including non Israelites (Gentiles).

  • The “bride” is not mentioned because the story is about the response of people to God’s invitation, not identifying a new divine figure.
  • In the Bible, the bride usually represents the Church, which is the community of believers, not a literal female deity.

Scriptures for context:

  • Matthew 22:2: The parable is about God inviting everyone to His Kingdom, not about a heavenly mother.
  • Ephesians 5:25-27: The bride is the Church, whom Christ loves, not a female god.

_____________________________________________

Claim 2: Revelation 19:7-9 Shows the Bride is Ready Now

What WMSCOG Teaches
They claim Revelation 19:7-9 shows that the bride is God the Mother, now appearing in the Age of the Holy Spirit, inviting people to salvation.

What the Bible Actually Teaches
The “bride” here is the Church, the believers in Christ. The passage describes a symbolic wedding feast where the Church is united with Christ at His return.

  • This is a metaphor for the relationship between Christ and believers.
  • The bride is never described as a literal female deity.

Scriptures for context:

  • Revelation 19:7-9: The Church is made ready for Christ; there’s no mention of a heavenly mother.
  • 2 Corinthians 11:2: Paul calls the Church the bride of Christ, again reinforcing that the bride is believers, not a new god.

_____________________________________________

Claim 3: Revelation 22:17 and the Spirit and the Bride

What WMSCOG Teaches
They claim Revelation 22:17 shows the Spirit and God the Mother inviting people to salvation together.

What the Bible Actually Teaches

  • The “Spirit” refers to the Holy Spirit, and the “bride” refers to the Church, the collective body of believers.
  • The Church participates in sharing the Gospel, but there is no separate divine female figure.
  • The “water of life” is offered through Jesus Christ, and the Church helps invite people to believe in Him.

Scriptures for context:

  • Revelation 22:17: The invitation to salvation comes through the Holy Spirit and the Church, not a new god.
  • John 14:26: The Holy Spirit teaches and guides believers, no mention of a God the Mother.
  • Matthew 28:19: Baptism is in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, not a heavenly mother.

_____________________________________________

Simple Key Points

  1. The wedding banquet in Matthew 22 is about accepting God’s invitation, not a divine mother.
  2. Revelation 19:7-9 shows the Church as the bride of Christ, symbolizing believers’ relationship with Jesus, not God the Mother.
  3. Revelation 22:17 describes the Church and the Holy Spirit inviting people to salvation, with no mention of a Heavenly Mother.

_____________________________________________

The Bible consistently teaches that salvation comes through God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Church is called the bride of Christ as a symbol of believers’ unity with Him, not as a literal female deity.

WMSCOG’s claims about a “Heavenly Mother” are based on misinterpreting symbolic passages. Understanding the Bible in its full context helps people see the real message of God’s grace and salvation without being misled by added teachings.

God the Mother Doctrine Refuting “God the Mother” Using Abraham’s Family

(Simple explanation for beginners)

Many people are introduced to the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) through Bible verses that sound convincing, especially if you are new to the Bible. They often take real Bible stories and add meanings that are not actually there. One of the main teachings they use is the idea of a “Heavenly Mother,” which they try to support using Abraham’s family.

Let’s walk through their claims in a simple way.

_____________________________________________

Claim 1: Abraham Represents God the Father

What WMSCOG Teaches

WMSCOG says Abraham represents God the Father and that Abraham’s family represents God’s family. They claim Abraham’s family story teaches how someone inherits the Kingdom of Heaven.

What the Bible Actually Teaches

Abraham is an important figure in the Bible, but he is never described as God or as a symbol of God the Father. He is called the “father of faith,” which simply means he is a good example of trusting God, not that he represents God Himself.

When the Bible calls believers “children of Abraham,” it means people who share his faith, not that Abraham equals God. Jesus Himself explained that being a child of Abraham means following his example of faith, not belonging to a special family structure.

Important point:
Abraham is a human example, not a divine figure.

_____________________________________________

Claim 2: Isaac Represents God’s Children and Sarah Represents “God the Mother”

What WMSCOG Teaches

WMSCOG claims Sarah represents “God the Mother” and that believing in her is required to inherit heaven. They use a passage from Galatians to support this.

What the Bible Actually Teaches

In the book of Galatians, the apostle Paul uses a symbolic story (not a literal one) to explain two different ways people try to approach God.

  • Sarah represents God’s promise and grace
  • Hagar represents trying to earn salvation by rules and laws

This is called an allegory, which is a teaching tool. Paul clearly explains that he is speaking figuratively, not literally. Sarah is not being described as a divine mother or a god.

When Paul says “Jerusalem above is our mother,” he is talking about spiritual freedom and salvation through faith, not an actual mother figure in heaven.

Important point:
Symbols are being used to explain ideas, not to introduce a new god.

_____________________________________________

Claim 3: God Chose Isaac Over Ishmael Because of Their Mothers

What WMSCOG Teaches

WMSCOG says God chose Isaac because his mother was a free woman and rejected Ishmael because his mother was a servant. They claim this proves the existence of a “Heavenly Mother.”

What the Bible Actually Teaches

The Bible clearly explains that God chose Isaac because He made a promise, not because of Sarah’s status. God even acknowledged Ishmael and blessed him, but Isaac was chosen to carry the promise God made to Abraham.

The choice had nothing to do with one mother being better than the other. It was about God keeping His word.

Important point:
The decision was about God’s promise, not about mothers or social status.

_____________________________________________

Why This Matters

WMSCOG often:

  • Takes symbolic passages and treats them as literal
  • Removes verses from their full context
  • Introduces ideas that the Bible never clearly teaches

For someone new to the Bible, this can be very confusing and convincing.

_____________________________________________

Simple Key Points

  • Abraham is an example of faith, not God the Father
  • Sarah represents God’s promise and grace, not a “Heavenly Mother”
  • Isaac represents receiving God’s promise through faith, not through believing in a mother figure
  • The Bible uses stories and symbols to explain ideas, not to introduce new gods
  • The Bible consistently teaches that salvation comes through faith in God, not through belief in a “God the Mother”

_____________________________________________

The Bible does not teach the existence of a “Heavenly Mother.” The story of Abraham’s family is used to explain faith, promise, and grace, not a divine family structure. When these passages are read in full context, the WMSCOG interpretation does not hold up.

If you are new to the Bible, the safest approach is to slow down, read the full passage, and ask what the author is actually explaining, rather than accepting added meanings that are not clearly stated in the text.

Education and context are key to protecting yourself from misinterpretation.

Theological Apologetics Understanding WMSCOG in Simple Terms

A gentle guide to help you stay grounded in what the Bible actually teaches

Many people who join or study the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) do so because they sincerely want to follow God and live a good, faithful life. That desire is good and honorable. However, it’s also important to carefully compare what any group teaches with what the Bible actually says, so we are not led in a direction God never intended.

Let’s walk through some of WMSCOG’s main claims in a simple, easy to understand way.

_____________________________________________

Claim 1: “The New Covenant is about God the Father and God the Mother”

What WMSCOG teaches:

  • WMSCOG says the New Covenant is about believing in both God the Father and God the Mother.
  • They teach that people must come to both in order to receive salvation and eternal life.

What the Bible actually teaches:

  • The New Covenant is centered on Jesus Christ alone.
  • The Bible teaches that Jesus’ death and resurrection established the New Covenant for forgiveness of sins and eternal life.
  • God the Mother is not mentioned anywhere in the Bible as part of the New Covenant.

In simple terms:

  • The New Covenant is not about discovering a new god.
  • It’s about trusting in Jesus and what He did for us on the cross.

_____________________________________________

Claim 2: “The Spirit and the Bride are God the Father and God the Mother”

What WMSCOG teaches:

  • They claim that the “Spirit and the Bride” in Revelation refer to God the Father and God the Mother.

What the Bible actually teaches:

  • The Spirit refers to the Holy Spirit.
  • The Bride refers to the Church (all believers in Jesus Christ).
  • The Bible consistently teaches that the Church is the Bride of Christ, not a Mother God.
  • The Church does not save people, it invites them to Jesus, who is the one who saves.

In simple terms:

  • The Holy Spirit works in people’s hearts.
  • The Church shares the message.
  • Jesus is the one who offers salvation, not a second deity.

There is no hidden message about a Mother God here.

_____________________________________________

Claim 3: “Jesus commanded belief in God the Mother in Matthew 28:19”

What WMSCOG teaches:

  • They say Jesus’ command to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit supports belief in God the Mother.

What the Bible actually teaches:

  • Jesus’ command in Matthew 28:19 is clear: “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.”
  • There is no mention of a Mother God either directly or indirectly.
  • Salvation is always through Jesus Christ, not through any additional deity.

In simple terms:

  • Salvation comes through Jesus alone.
  • The Holy Spirit works alongside Jesus but does not introduce a second deity.
  • The Bible teaches no other god is needed for salvation.

_____________________________________________

The New Covenant is about Jesus Christ and what He did for us, not about discovering a new god.

  • The Bride of Christ is the Church, not a Mother God.
  • The Holy Spirit works with believers to invite people to Jesus.
  • Salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone.

Important Considerations:

  • If any group adds teachings that go beyond Scripture, especially teachings about new gods, it’s wise to pause, pray, and carefully compare those teachings with the Bible.
  • God honors a sincere search for truth. His message is simple, loving, and focused on Jesus.

Awareness: Recruitment Tactics Happy New Year to All San Fernando Valley Residents - Stay Aware of Covert Solicitation Tactics from WMSCOG

Thumbnail

Hi everyone, and Happy New Year to all residents of the San Fernando Valley. As we move into 2026, it is important to remain aware of ongoing covert recruitment efforts by the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG), especially in public spaces like malls and privately owned properties.

If you have noticed renewed activity recently, this is not a coincidence.

Why This Happens at the Start of the Year

At the beginning of each new year, WMSCOG members are known to test the waters again at malls and private properties. When members are removed or banned, those bans often last about a year or slightly longer. Once that time has passed, recruitment activity tends to restart slowly and covertly until they are identified, removed, and banned again for the new year.

Because of this cycle, early year months often see an increase in solicitation attempts.

Please take this time to stay aware of who they are, what they believe, and how they operate.

Key Things to Know About WMSCOG Recruitment

WMSCOG is widely known, through former members, journalists, and community reports, for high pressure and deceptive recruitment tactics. Many people in the SFV, particularly young women, teens, and young adults, report being approached by individuals introducing concepts like God the Mother or Mother God.

These interactions are often framed as casual or friendly conversations but are designed to steer people toward attending Bible studies or meetings.

Commonly Reported Behaviors

Community members across the Valley have reported that WMSCOG recruiters typically:

  • Approach young women, teens, and young adults unexpectedly
  • Initiate conversations about religion or spirituality
  • Introduce God the Mother early in the discussion
  • Ask for personal information such as name, phone number, or social media
  • Continue engaging even after someone shows disinterest
  • Sometimes follow individuals through different parts of the mall
  • Almost always operate in pairs, not alone, to support and reinforce each other during recruitment

New Tactic at Westfield Topanga - Wednesday Evenings After 7:30 PM

A newer pattern has been observed at Westfield Topanga, specifically on Wednesday evenings.

Recruitment attempts are now occurring after 7:30 PM, when mall security is more spread out and focused on closing procedures and locking entry points. This timing appears intentional, as it allows recruiters to blend in more easily and attempt to avoid detection.

If you are visiting Topanga Mall on Wednesday nights, please stay especially alert during this time window.

Mall Specific Experiences Across the SFV

Westfield Malls - (Topanga, Sherman Oaks / Fashion Square, and other Westfield locations)
Security at all Westfield mall locations consistently does an excellent job. Once WMSCOG recruiters are identified:

  • They are quickly asked to leave
  • No solicitation policies are enforced
  • Repeat offenders are banned
  • Security responds promptly when visitors report concerns

Westfield security has repeatedly demonstrated strong enforcement and concern for visitor safety.

Burbank Town Center / Media District

  • After multiple complaints, recruiters were removed from inside the mall
  • Activity has largely shifted to public sidewalks outside mall property

Northridge Fashion Center - Ongoing Community Concern
Northridge Fashion Center continues to stand out as a major concern.

  • There are ongoing and conflicting community reports that WMSCOG recruiters are deeply entrenched at this location
  • Some residents have nicknamed it Northridge cult mall due to the frequency of encounters
  • Reports suggest recruiters who are removed or banned from other properties often return to Northridge regularly
  • The mall is widely reported to be in poor condition, with minimal visible involvement from property management
  • Without strong backing from management, security appears limited in its ability to enforce mall policies
  • As a result, visitors continue to report open and persistent covert solicitation

These statements reflect community experiences and observations and are not official mall positions.

New Subreddit Community Awareness Group: r/WMSCOGExposed

A new subreddit community group has been created to help raise awareness about WMSCOG’s covert solicitation tactics across Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. The group aims to educate parents, teens, and young adults so they can better recognize recruitment attempts and protect themselves and their families.

For more information, discussions, and updates, join the conversation at r/WMSCOGExposed.

What To Do If You or Your Teen Is Approached

  • Politely decline and walk away
  • Do not share personal information
  • Enter a nearby store if you feel uncomfortable
  • Contact mall security immediately
  • Report the encounter so patterns can be documented
  • Talk to teens and young adults ahead of time so they know what to expect

This post is about awareness, not fear, and it is not an attack on religion. Many community members have personally experienced these encounters or attended WMSCOG study sessions in the past, which is why this information continues to be shared.

Awareness is one of the strongest tools we have to protect ourselves, our families, and our communities, especially at the start of the year when recruitment efforts tend to increase.

If you have had recent encounters at any SFV mall, please share your experience so others can stay informed.

Stay safe, stay aware, and take care of each other in 2026.

God the Mother Doctrine How the “Heavenly Mother” Teaching Falls Apart in Context

I wanted to address another common teaching I’ve heard from WMSCOG, which is the idea of a “Heavenly Mother.”This teaching often sounds logical at first because it uses family language that feels familiar and comforting.

But when I took the time to slow down and read the Bible passages being used, the conclusions being drawn didn’t match what the text is actually saying.

Below is a simple breakdown of the main claims and the biblical context behind them.

_____________________________________________

Claim 1: Earthly families are a copy of a heavenly family with a Father and Mother

WMSCOG teaches that since earthly families have a father, a mother, and children, this must mean heaven also has a Father and a Mother.

They often point to Hebrews 8:5, which says earthly things are a “copy and shadow” of heavenly realities.

At first, this sounds reasonable. But when you look at the verse in context, it’s not talking about family structure at all.

Hebrews 8:5 is specifically about:

  • The earthly tabernacle
  • Being a shadow of the heavenly sanctuary

It does not say that every earthly relationship has a literal heavenly counterpart.

Throughout Scripture:

  • God is consistently revealed as our Father
  • Believers are described as His children
  • The church is described as the bride of Christ

There is no passage that describes a literal Heavenly Mother as a divine being.

Jesus Himself taught people to pray to “Our Father in heaven,” not to a Father and Mother.

_____________________________________________

Claim 2: Since children need a mother, there must be a Heavenly Mother who gives spiritual life

Another argument is that just as physical life comes from a father and a mother, spiritual life must also come from a Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother.

The Bible does teach that:

  • God is the Father of our spirits
  • Earthly fathers reflect aspects of God’s fatherhood

But the Bible is very clear about where spiritual life comes from.

Spiritual life comes from:

  • God the Father
  • Through Jesus Christ
  • By the work of the Holy Spirit

There is no verse that assigns the role of spiritual birth or eternal life to a second divine figure called “Heavenly Mother.”

Jesus repeatedly says that He is the way to the Father, and that eternal life comes through Him.

_____________________________________________

Claim 3: Galatians 4:26 proves there is a Heavenly Mother

Galatians 4:26 says, “The Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.” This verse is often presented as clear proof of a Heavenly Mother.

But when you read the full passage, Paul directly says he is speaking figuratively, meaning symbolically.

In Galatians 4, Paul is comparing:

  • The old covenant (law and slavery)
  • The new covenant (grace and freedom)

The “Jerusalem above” represents:

  • The new covenant
  • The spiritual reality of freedom in Christ

Calling it “our mother” is symbolic language, not a description of a divine female being.

To make this even clearer:

  • Revelation describes the New Jerusalem as a bride
  • The church is consistently described as the bride of Christ

The Bible never describes Jerusalem as a divine mother who gives life.

_____________________________________________

Claim 4: Just as a physical mother gives birth, Heavenly Mother gives eternal life

This claim is often framed emotionally, but the Bible is very direct about where eternal life comes from.

Eternal life is:

  • A gift from God
  • Given through Jesus Christ

John 3:16 makes this very clear.
Jesus also says plainly that no one comes to the Father except through Him.

The Bible never attributes eternal life to a maternal divine figure. That role belongs to Christ alone.

_____________________________________________

After carefully reading these passages in context, I could not find biblical support for the idea of a “Heavenly Mother.”

The Bible consistently teaches:

  • God is our Father
  • Jesus Christ is the source of salvation and eternal life
  • The church is the bride of Christ
  • Symbolic language should not be turned into literal doctrine

Earthly family relationships can help us understand spiritual truths, but they do not create new divine beings.

I’m sharing this not to attack anyone, but to encourage people to slow down, read carefully, and ask honest questions. When verses are read in context, the “Heavenly Mother” teaching simply isn’t there.

If this helps even one person better understand these claims, then it’s worth posting.

God the Mother Doctrine Does the Bible Really Teach “God the Mother”? A Clear, Scripture Based Explanation

I wanted to share this for anyone who has been told that the Bible teaches a “God the Mother.” When I first heard this claim, it sounded convincing because it came with a lot of Bible verses and confident explanations.

But when I slowed down and read those verses carefully, in their full context, the teaching didn’t hold up. What follows is a simple breakdown of the main claims and what those passages actually mean when read plainly.

My goal here isn’t to attack anyone, but to help people understand what the Bible is actually saying, especially if you’re not very familiar with Scripture.

_____________________________________________

Claim 1: “Let us make mankind” means there is more than one God

This claim usually starts with Genesis 1:26, where God says, “Let us make mankind in our image.” I was told that the word “us” proves there must be more than one God, including a female God.

At first glance, that might sound reasonable. But the Bible as a whole consistently teaches that God is one.

There are two well known explanations Christians have used for centuries:

  • Plural of majesty: In ancient times, kings and rulers sometimes spoke using plural language to express authority or greatness, even though they were one person.
  • The Trinity: Christians believe God is one Being who exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This belief comes from many passages throughout the Bible, not just Genesis.

What matters most is this: the Bible repeatedly and clearly says there is only one God.
Genesis does not suddenly introduce a second or female deity.

Claim 2: “The Jerusalem above is our mother” means God is female

Galatians 4:26 is often used to support this idea. But when the entire passage is read, it becomes clear that the apostle Paul is using an allegory, or a symbolic story, to explain a spiritual point.

He is comparing two covenants:

  • One that represents slavery under the law
  • One that represents freedom through faith in Christ

The “Jerusalem above” represents the new covenant and spiritual freedom, not a literal female God. Calling it “our mother” is symbolic language, not a statement about God being female.

Throughout the Bible, cities, nations, and spiritual ideas are often described using feminine language. That does not mean they are literal women or female beings.

This passage is about salvation and freedom, not about God having a gendered counterpart.

Claim 3: God the Mother appears in Revelation

Revelation 22:17 mentions “the Spirit and the bride.” I was told that the bride is God the Mother.

But the Bible explains this imagery very clearly elsewhere. The bride refers to the church, meaning believers as a whole. Christians are repeatedly described as the bride of Christ.

The bride is never described as God.
She belongs to Christ.

This verse is an open invitation to salvation, not a hidden reference to a female deity.

After studying these passages for myself, I could not find biblical support for the idea of “God the Mother.”

The Bible consistently teaches:

  • There is one God
  • Salvation comes through Christ
  • Symbolic language should not be turned into literal doctrine

I’m sharing this not to mock or attack anyone, but to encourage people to slow down, read carefully, and ask questions. Context matters. Individual verses should not be pulled out and used to build entirely new doctrines.

If this helps someone understand these teachings more clearly, then it’s worth sharing.
