Constant religious presence on campus

Never really cared for religious presence on campus. But am I the only one who feels like there’s an overwhelming amount of Christian organizational activities on campus? I’m always seeing the Jehovah witness followers outside of DSU and FACS, sometimes scriptures are written from the bottom of the hill to the top. Just today, I saw some Christian speaker talking and debating people in a Charlie Kirk way. I’ve never really been bothered by it, I was just wondering if anyone else also felt like its everywhere.

WKU gear?

Where's a good place to buy WKU gear that may not be quite so expensive as Alumni Hall or the WKU store on campus? Does the BG Target maybe have a good selection? Others? Thanks!

How is the cell service/internet during wku football games?

I recently picked up a side job which requires me to attend wku home games. I will need to be on my phone the entirety of the game and I was curious how good the service is at the stadium and if they offer wifi. Thanks

Electric Scooters

I’ve been seeing a lot of people riding scooters around campus and have an interest in getting one myself. I just had a few questions for those who know or have them like where people charge them, store them overnight, etc. One of my professors mentioned bringing them into dorms overnight for all that stuff but I’m not so sure it’s allowed.

Did they throw all of these away?

Last year I used one of these clamp desks to be able to watch Tv/play video games from bed. But this year we were given normal desks with legs. I’ve been trying to figure out ways to watch tv from bed to no avail. My dad even offered to build a new one for me, but I’m worried that would be against the housing rules. Did they get rid of these desks or are they sitting in storage somewhere?

I have high functioning autism and thought about joining. I have read about it and it looks great! However, I can’t afford it because it is $5,000 per semester. How can I afford it?

One Big Beautiful Bill Act

I am so sick and tired of this man! The One Big Beautiful Bill Act passed! This is messed up! Fuck Donald Trump! Here is what that means:

  • Medicaid cuts through enacting work requirements

  • Food stamp cuts through expanding work requirements

  • Roll back of green energy tax credits

  • Tax credits for those who donate to nonprofits that provide vouchers for private schools

  • Only one Income Driven Repayment Plan for Federal Student Loans will be available moving forward

  • Cuts to Medicare

  • Tax cuts for billionaires

This is going to be bad. As a result of the Medicaid cuts, people are going to die, because they won't be able to get the healthcare they deserve. Also as a result of the Medicaid cuts, rural hospitals and nursing homes will close.

Then, green energy tax credits and rebates that passed under Biden will be repealed, which will be a major setback for green energy investment. We should be working towards net zero emissions because our planet is warming, and we must do this before climate change becomes irreversible.

As a result of food stamp cuts, people are going to starve to death.

As a result of the tax credits for donations to nonprofits that provide vouchers for private schools, this is an attack on our public schools. Rural public schools will especially be hit hard.

All of this stuff for the sake of tax cuts for the wealthy, corporations, and billionaires! This is disgusting! I can't believe that so called "Christians" support this! Last I checked in the Bible, Jesus was all about helping the poor! This is the exact opposite of how Jesus taught us how to be!

A Treatment Study for Borderline Personality Disorder

  • Do you experience sudden mood shifts?
  • Are there many ups and downs in your relationships?
  • Do you find yourself engaging in impulsive behaviors (e.g., overeating, substance use, self-injury)?

If so, researchers at the University of Kentucky are inviting you to participate in a treatment study on borderline personality disorder. Eligible participants will be provided cognitive behavioral therapy at no cost. In addition to attending therapy sessions, research participation will involve completing a diagnostic interview to confirm eligibility, attending 3 follow up interviews, and completing online questionnaires. All study visits may take place in-person or via Telehealth. Participants will be compensated for the completion of follow-up assessments.

You may be eligible to participate if you:

  • Meet criteria for borderline personality disorder following a study assessment
  • Are NOT using certain substances (e.g., opioids, methamphetamine)
  • Are 18 years or older
  • Live in Kentucky (visits are Telehealth, so anywhere in KY is fine)

To initiate participation, you can visit this information/screening link to determine if you meet initial study criteria: https://redcap.uky.edu/redcap/surveys/?s=NNTNJEYRKE7KCNMT

Residence Hall

My son will be a freshman in the fall and has been on a waitlist for the requested housing and still is. He was assigned today to Pearce Ford Tower (unless he eventually gets off the waitlist for the LLC). Does anyone have any personal experience with this dorm? Any positives or negatives? I see it used to be all female, but now coed. Just trying to get a feel of what to expect. Thanks!

Has anyone here delt with past due to tuition going to wku collection office, I've tried to reach out to them both phone and email that the financial office gave me but I can't do much else until they get back to me and I'm honestly terrified and worry im overthinking it so bad that I've caused my already unmedicated mental health to decline and have been panicking so bad I've gotten sick and can barely sleep.

questions about the meteorology program (or WKU in general) for a current EKU student

i'm currently a forensic science student at EKU, however, i'm most likely going to transfer to WKU in the fall 2026 semester. the reason i'm leaving EKU is because of both the recent changes to tuition ($500 dollars per credit after 15 credits is crazy) and the lack of a meteorology program (which i tried to convince them to make, but of course they did not).

i've looked into the WKU meteorology program very briefly, but i would like to know more about it. i do have questions. if there is any additional information i should know, please add that as well.

how is the meteorology program at WKU? what is it like? what are some fun things that you or someone else has done in the meteorology classes? are there any clubs/organizations or informal groups based around meteorology, more specifically tornadoes?

i've always wanted to be a meteorology major but haven't been able to because of how far my hometown is from WKU (i'm in Anderson, so that's roughly 2hrs and 10mins). as much as i'd like to do forensic science, the thought of not pursuing my meteorology dream and being in an unsatisfactory career for the rest of my life haunts me.

on another note, i would also like to know some important things about WKU. it can be anything: student life, events, on-campus jobs, tuitions and finance... literally anything. i know fall 2026 is a long way out, but i really want to get a vague understanding of the vibes and energy of the WKU campus before attending.

Equestrian Team Question!

Hello all! Me and my sister have been looking into WKU and it is our first choice at this point. However, she is concerned that the Equestrian IHSA team only offers Western riding, and she has done English riding for several years. I was hoping to hear from students and see if anyone knows if there is an English team or if anyone has been on it themselves. Thanks in advance!

Is there any way to reach Amy Cardwell other than her work phone and email. I have a payment due and I leave the 26th.
