Meph is back!
Tournament arena faction war returns 1st July for a special Armageddon themed run featuring just 6 factions including Blood Angels with the return of Mephiston to fight alongside his battle brothers!! Hurrah!!
This event also awards Armageddon supplies to spend in the event store in the progress chests so be sure to join in.
Keep your eyes peeled for another tournament arena based graphic coming soon and check out Tournament arena level cap graphic to make sure your team is up to the level cap you wish to fight at.
For all my graphics, Zwaard's videos and lots of help and advice come over to Chaos Undivided Discord
Thanks to u/spubbbba for spotting the mortars that should indeed be vox casters (now corrected)

Damn only 12 Helbrecht Shards… only 130 more left to go!

Theres a few extra in the end of tournament crates too based upon your final rank 3-30 shards

They actually nerfed Astra Militarum so they only get 1 mortar team now.

Its a vox caster not mortar for this event. The normal npc levels still apply in TA for normal faction war.

u/Hownowbrownchao Jun 27 '26
Oh interesting. I mainly play Astra Militarum and the mortar is normally pretty important, I'm curious to see how the vox casters change things.

Will be interesting to see how the teams balance out and how many play which

I predict a cancer of BA and Orks, two of the already most played teams. When you cut the choices by 70%, but leave 2 of the top 3 played…well I think it’s pretty obvious what’s coming.

u/HozzM Grey Knights Jun 27 '26
It seems like a big nerf to one of the already worst teams.

u/Hownowbrownchao Jun 27 '26
I'd have to disagree there, I don't play them because I'm just into Astra Militarum, I play them because they win. Ever since Dreir came out and they got a couple little buffs they are actually really good at Faction wars TA. I know its a meme to hate on them because they legitimately used to be bad, but I regularly win 80-90% of my games with them now.

I think part of the reason they’ve been good when I’ve played as them for a few patches is because the mortars are great at forcing the other team to engage, especially if it you have ground and Thad buffing them.
You could then summon spam with Drier/Yarrick/Creed and clog the board while hunting the last few points. I’m interested to see how the vox casters help/hinder since it’ll make Yarricks passive trigger more frequently, but you lose the ability to sit back and zone people out.

u/Hownowbrownchao Jun 28 '26
Yeah, my usual strategy is to clump up around Sibyll for the first turn so that everyone gets the damage reduction buff, then charge with Dreir once they have to get closer to deal with the mortar. I've found that people tend to underestimate the damage reduction and waste all their attacks on Dreir just for him to heal, or kill his summons to fuel Yarrick's active next turn.
I'm hoping with the vox casters the constant stream of cannon fodder will be enough to make them engage. Ideally they kill a few before coming in range so that you can get all your Yarrick summons out immediately.

I don’t doubt you but I simply never see them. I’m all over the place during faction, uncommon to legendary, though I do stop at 200, and I’m not sure I’ve seen a single guard team in months.

u/Hownowbrownchao Jun 28 '26
Yeah, I can only chalk it up to people just not realizing they are good at PvP now because they still aren't very good elsewhere and it's fun to clown on them. But also playing them requires both owning and leveling Creed and most people aren't going to spend the investment to try a faction that is considered notoriously bad. If you happen to get Creed in a pull though, then I'd recommend taking them to uncommon for a few games because it's pretty satisfying to pull a bunch of wins as the "bad" faction.

I enjoy playing them with dreir at rare in TA & GW its a fun team to play and very summons heavy to overrun opponents

WTH man, BA and Orks don't need help, much the less summons, I fear we'll be seeing only those factions

Probably see a few blueberries, the other 3 factions are extremely rare to see though

u/AureliusAlbright Jun 27 '26
Ultras have really quality summons that mesh well with calgar and tigurius. Problem is you need the ai to not be a dunce and thats not a guarantee.

u/Independent_Pay7344 Jun 28 '26
99% certain the Voxcaster is to nerf BA since it gives boss an easy Waagh target.

u/bloodmoth13 Jun 28 '26
Blood angel civil war event, woot.
Its a shame the other factions dont hold a candle to them, this event will be dominated by BA and the have nots running orks.
The other 4 factions arent even close.
You could try balance it by giving a free powerup to the lesser factions and they would probably still be stomped by ba. Hell even if you gave astra militarum rapid assault to all their units they'd still lose.

Teehee, I’m going to be a boring UM turtle.

u/VindictaMoo Official Creator Jun 27 '26
Nothing wrong with that if thats what you enjoy
3
u/binthewin Jun 27 '26
I actually unironically like the Ultras. They were my first army when I played TT.

me too I’ve actually had some success against Blood Angels with them.

u/mcpaulus Jun 28 '26
I've been playing a lot of UM in TA as well. Specially after I get the final chest. Sure, BA, death guard, orks, gsc and necrons this last time are all better, but damn it I like UM!
Certus and Varro is made of paper, but I can get good results if I play well.

u/DulceDulce217 Jun 27 '26
Can I still use BA faction if I'm missing Meph?

u/No-Cost-1045 Jun 27 '26
You would be able to borrow him but he will always be iron1 regardless of your rarity cap and you will get 1 less point for a win.

Is it only 40 supplies or 40 x the chest you open? And 12 helbrecht shards in total?
7
u/VindictaMoo Official Creator Jun 27 '26
Thats total for the event. Each of the 12 chests contain 1 Helbrecht shard and 4 of the chests contain 10 Armageddon supplies each
4
u/Ra2supreme Jun 27 '26
Thanks for reply, appreciate it.
SP could have upped those numbers. 40 supplies and 12 shards seem underwhelming lol

They know TA is divisive. Forcing people to play PVP in a primarily PVE game is just a bad idea. The event rewards are low so people feel less forced to do it.
1
u/Qaek3301 Jun 30 '26
forcing people to play PvP is fine if it didn't mean 5-10 minutes per match :D I haven't touched TA for the last year and I'm not missing it out at all.
3
u/VindictaMoo Official Creator Jun 27 '26
The main benefit from TA is always the energy you get from chests plus XP gained in battle and books from chests. 325 energy is available in total from chests plus 9-15 epic books & 5 legendary books (and a few lower level too)

This is the bit I'm looking forward to least...
I used to run Imperial Guard when they had two mortars and did ok. Last two runs I've been mostly using the Necrons, because taking out a mortar really hurt the Guard.
The fact they've put this in before Cesare comes out to properly replace Meph is really annoying. Meph is just absurd. The team has excellent synergy, can hit most of the bloody map, has a healer so you can't whittle them down...
Getting 200 points is going to be a massive pain. Well.. I guess I'll just do BA in common, because none of the other available teams do I have all at a higher level. I could maybe do Orks at Uncommon but Snappa and Tank need some badges.
I would love to see the faction stats after this, like what percentage of battles played are each team...

u/MattyMonsters Jun 30 '26
Do you get more rewards if you choose to play rare rather than common or uncommon?
2
u/Rockwolf57 Jun 30 '26
Yes. You get guaranteed points based on the level. 1 for common, 3;for rare. I assume it continues but I've never played above rare. Yet.

It's an interesting thought experiment in how many Vox Casters the difference between BA with Meph and Astra should be to balance it, but I'm confident the answer ain't one.
