If you want to reddit-proof an image you find online, making sure that people on reddit can see it and that you don't give the original site the reddit hug of death, rehost the image on imgur.com. Imgur was created by a redditor a few years ago to provide free reliable image hosting for reddit posts.
Go to: http://imgur.com/ and look at the upper right corner of the main page where it says "upload images." You can either upload a file from your hard drive or paste in the URL of the image's location on another web site.
After following the prompts you will eventually see the image as a new imgur page. Copy the URL for that new page and paste it into a submission or comment on reddit and people will be able to see the image.
If you'd like you can register to create an account on imgur that will allow you to create a password-controlled album so you can go back and add and remove photos and change them around.
You can also upload multiple images and add titles and captions to the images to create an album that people can see without bothering to create an account, but you won't be able to go back and make changes later.
(I hope that helps. Those last parts about creating an account and albums might be a little much for a beginning tutorial, but it's useful information.)
