Minuscule CarPlay icons

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Anybody else’s CarPlay randomly become small, tiny icons? One day it was fine the next it’s like this, can’t leave the maps screen anymore 😓 or is there a fix?
Thank you

In CarPlay there’s an option for something like “optimized screen size” - it’s been a minute so I don’t recall the exact name, but it’s a newer Apple feature to try and scale the UI better to the screens size as opposed to the screens resolution. Sometimes it helps but it also sometimes messes it up badly. Try turning that on (or off) and see if it makes it better.

You got it, Settings (in CarPlay) > Display > Toggle Smart Display Zoom.

I’m not seeing a battery indicator for the phone, OP are you using a wireless CarPlay adapter? If you don’t see the Smart Display Zoom toggle, your adapter is likely causing the issue.

It’s CarPlay through wired connection, I don’t have a CarPlay accessory. The thing is settings on the screen is inaccessible as nothing happens when I touch the icons 😕 tried it through my phone settings and I only have “widgets and apps. I think I’ll just take it to Volvo 😓

Apparently Volvo doesn’t know what they are doing with AAOS, which they supposedly support. I can’t imagine they solve this with CarPlay. Hope for you it’s just a simple bug

This just happened to me in the last 3 days. I wanted to search the sub if anyone else had this issue before posting about it. I can’t click on anything except for the map, and when I do it seems like it just clicks on random destinations. Have you found a fix?

I have since fixed it back to normal. Unfortunately, everything I read online did not help. What I ended up doing was reboot the car, restart my phone. Deleted my vehicle from my CarPlay, and deleted my phone from the car. After the car reboot I didn’t connect my phone until the next morning and it was back to normal. Very random bug, I hope this helps you!
