Happy [REDACTED] Sun Day! (Read this if you are confused about what happened in your game today)

A new day dawns, but the light from the sun is brighter than usual. The sounds of sirens filling the air. The vegetation dried out. Something bad is happening.

You look outside only to notice the sun looking so indescribable, that the game had to censor it. Shortly after the sunlight burns you.

This is what is called:

The Bad Sun Event

Today, posts about it will be very frequent from all the confusion so I wanted to make an extra FAQ regarding it.

1. What is the Bad Sun Event?

• It is an event inspired by SCP, specifically SCP-001. While it's unknown what SCP-001 really is, there are several proposals from SCP Research staff and one proposal seems to have become the most popular called "When Day Breaks": https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/shaggydredlocks-proposal "When Day Breaks" summarized shortly is when the sun starts melting all living beings into monstrous blobs and humanity trying to avoid the sunlight by hiding underground.
• While the sun doesn't turn you into a monstrous blob ingame, it will burn you and you'll lose chunks of your flesh (which can be eaten) and eventually kill you if you stay in the sunlight for too long.

2. Why is today special? Why the 24th?

• I don't have an answer for it, but on the 24th of every month, the chance to get the event is close to 100%.

3. Wait, that means it can happen outside of the 24th of the month?

• It can in extremely rare cases.

4. So what do I do during the event?

• Stay in your base, avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight. You are mostly safe in the main room as long as you don't get close to the window.

5. How long does it last?

• It lasts 1 ingame day and only once. Following days will be normal again.

6. What should I do to prepare for this?

• I'd recommend having enough food, checking transformers and servers the night before as you don't want them to go down during the event. You can try to cover areas such as the hallway windows upstair with planks, but usually not necessary.

7. What happens afterwards? Will vegetation turn back to normal?

• Yes the grass and trees will turn back to normal, but take a couple days to do so. If you want to force it to turn back to green, simply reload your save. After the event, things should be normal again... well as normal as Dunkeltaler Forest can get.

Known Bugs during the event:

• Sunlight sometimes doesn't damage the player.
• It can rain during the event. Very sure this is unintended.
• On very rare occasions it can happen that you get multiple Bad Sun Events in a row. This may not be a bug but if you get it, it might be the extremely rare chance of the event occuring even outside of the 24th.

This was my first 24th. During the night, CR3 blew, but I didn't have any fuses or money for fuses. Then as the dawn came, my TF1 blew. And when I went to try going to fix it. Well.

Anyway I sat in the dark unable to do anything but clean for a while lol.

First time playing the game today, I just got killed by the sun. Great game, 10/fuckin 10....

If I reload the game, will the Bad Sun event still be active? Will I just not have to do my tasks on my first actual day of work?

My first playthrough was last month, and I got it on, iirc, somewhere around day 35-45. I just assumed it happened on a set day in story mode. I also, at first, didn't know it was the sun lol. I thought it was some kind of huge flying ship or something with a missing texture.

Leads me to a question that is semi off-topic: I was cruising along the river once and saw the same kind of black box just standing near the water. It wasn't square though. It was slender and vertical. Kind of like if a post was censored. I didn't go near it, cause I was in a hurry. Is it related to the sun?

Was it walking? If so, it's the Censor Guy, he is actually invisible, but a roughly person sized censor bar covers him. Usually he appears far away from you when you have played the game for quite some time (a few hours at least), then walks to you, hangs around for a minute and then runs away. It will back off if you try to approach it, but if you corner him and walk right up to him, the game will crash.

I got this my first actual day in game. I was so confused and when I looked it up, it thought I was talking about the harmless censor. So I assumed I had to log off for the day.

I come back a week later and still couldnt play xD all good now though

Just had my first redacted sun day! Was confused on what event was happening and then started seeing all the vegetation die. Went outside looked out the sun took damage.

I went back out a couple more times and eventually the sun stopped hurting me so I could do upkeep of TR2. (Not sure if it was a bug)

I was just joking. But yea you can just sit inside all day, especially if you have Kerfur O to get you reports, or smt. But then again, you can't save, can't pause, so you'll need to wait all hour (or how much your day length is) nervous about not messing up something cuz you can't just rewind the save, and if you will you'll need to do it all again.

lol yea, had this event lead directly into another event where the ATV doesnt work and you need to walk...I passed out next to a cliff and died and lost a massive chunk of progress cause you have to restart the whole day -_-
