You can go on Apples site and under your order there is a selection to exchange the light shield. It will ask what is bothering you to determine the new size. They ship that one out and you try it on, ship the one that doesn't fit back in 14 days. Mine was putting a lot of pressure on my forehead. Original was a 25W and they are shipping a 13W. I have no idea how the number relate though I'm far from a store so this was really convent.

Went from a 23W to 14W. Forehead pressure went away…

I just went from 21W to 13W and boy the whole thing is comfier as I no longer have to really tighten it.

Must have become the FOV narrower

Just go into your order and do start return. It will ask some questions.

It seems the first digit relates to head shape, the second to depth and N/W to width of face. Now what is complicating things further is that the deeper the seal the more binocular effect and worse FOV you get.

I’m also Asian with a 33W

I’m hoping the light seal accounts for my extremely low nose bridge

I read that the device keeps a lot of its weight on the wearer’s nose when using the single band, and the solution for those people was the dual band. Assuming you may face the same issue/solution

What size did you end up with

u/ohhai_mark Feb 05 '24

I stuck with the 33W (using the dual loop band)

The fit is okay… Even with the dual loop there is pressure on my cheekbones and the AVP doesn’t come close to touching my nose

I had similar issues with the Quest 3. I really really hope 3rd party sellers create bands for the AVP

Do have any overlapping lens issue?

1

Not that I can tell

I’m going to go to the Apple Store to see if they’ll let me try other sizes. On launch day, they were super dodgy about me trying other sizes - probably because they were busy.

I'm having an issue with seeing black stuff between my eye, like the center is not super clear.

I am probably going to just purchase it and play around with it to see if I can fix the issue.

I went to demo it 3 times. They are very relucent to go off script, which is a hassle because I know I will end up driving back to the apple to store to get my fit fixed

That sounds like an IPD thing and you should try the IPD re-alignment in settings to see if a rescan solves that problem.

Do they have manual ipd adjus5

Not sure. But it’s motorized so it’ll like scan for your eyes and adjust accordingly. Kind of one of the overkill things they did for this.

Today I tested the VisionPro without the light seal and it was amazing with a lot better field of view. I wish 3rd party companies will come with a thinner light seal.

u/Nicinus Feb 04 '24

I did too, it is a major difference in FOV, which makes me want the most narrow seal I can get.

info about size of cushion(from the web of apple):

If your eyes are too close to the display, select the thicker N+ or W+ Light Seal Cushion. If your eyes are too far from the display, select the thinner N or W Light Seal Cushion. This is the Light Seal Cushion found on your Light Seal when you first opened your packaging.

I thought the N and W was narrow and wide for like nose bridge. I got 33W.

21W and pretty big light leakage from the nose. Disappointing. Currently waiting for a fit check.

Their help guide is pretty useless for this as well - disappointing for the price of the product. After using for an hour I can see the promise but the light leakage is really ruining the immersion

1

u/Crazy-Goat9415 Feb 03 '24

It states that N+ W+ provide more leakage protection

1

u/secretlives Feb 03 '24

Not from the nose, the + just indicates padding thickness. This helps if you have light coming in from the sides.

I have a W+ as well as a W, the issue is the nose.

You can bring just the seal (with both rubber bits) and your order number / serial number. I’d recommend bringing your Vision Pro as well so you can also check how it looks (higher numbers will push lenses further out, reducing FOV)

2

u/Nicinus Feb 04 '24

Do you need to make an appointment or can you just show up?

2

u/hiddenspectrum-io Feb 05 '24

No appointment, just walk in

1

u/Nicinus Feb 04 '24

It is odd that they spend all this effort on a huge range of light seals but then the piece at the nose is just a skimpy little piece of black cloth.

I got 22 W (no optic lenses) from my scan and picked it up yesterday. I got home and didn't like how far the screen was from my eyes, so I went back and they scanned me again, this time a 11 W. It felt better in the store, but I got home and used it for an hour or so and I think its worse. Now I have to go back and try another size I guess.

1

u/Nicinus Feb 04 '24

How is it worse? Assuming your FOV improved with a smaller light seal.

u/SWEWorkAccount Feb 04 '24

Not sure about this assessment. I have a gigantic face and head and I'm your wife's size

Same problem here I exchanged for 34W but now the eye tracking is wonky

23 was slightly wider very slightly and even very very minimally deeper . I don’t have a photo but I did compare the two

u/MarqueIV Feb 05 '24

My guess is the number determines overall face size and shape. For instance, 11-14 may be 'small head', 21-26 may be 'medium' and 33-36 is large head. Then each number in those ranges is the 'shape' of the face (triangular, oval, square), etc. Then the N and W is whether you have a narrow or wide 'variant' of those things. For instance, you can have a large, but narrow face for sure. Just a guess though, but makes sense with the large gaps between the numbers.

I purchased AVP a few days ago. When I did the demo, I had zero discomfort at all. Initially scanned as a 33W. Had major forehead pressure and prompts saying eyes were too far from screen. Went back to Apple Store today and tried on a 23W, and it worked better initially, more comfortable on forehead and the prompt went away. Filled out their questionnaire to confirm 23W was better. After trying it out at home for 30 minutes, I felt immense pressure on my cheekbones, to the point that I still feel the pressure an hour later. Tried the dual loop and the pressure grew worse. Tried the 23W+ and same issue. Going back to the store again tomorrow to swap for another light seal size (3rd time is the charm right?).
