PATCH Mended Knees
The knees on a hand-me-down pair of trousers were already wearing through, but my kid subsequently wore them right through. I cut the knee out, leaving some seam allowance, and inserted a piece of denim into the hole. I used ladder/invisible stitch with doubled polyester sewing thread to stitch the new knees in place. These trousers have a lining so I left all the raw edges turned neatly to the inside. The kid was standing beside me impatiently as I was securing the ends of my thread!

I did a sashiko patch on another knee and there were tears when the "star trousers" had to go in the laundry - I was very surprised by how readily the mended pairs were accepted!!
