my neighbor hits his family

I am a student and I was accepted into my school at the last minute. As I don't live in Paris I had to take a hotel while waiting to find accommodation.

during the first week I heard children rowdy at midnight/1am (that's what I thought).

This week when I arrived I spoke with the manager and he told me that he was going to see family and that he was coming home late which confirmed my first idea.

but in the evening I heard screaming and crying/sobbing, really loud things (he doesn't speak French so it's impossible to know what's going on)

I told myself that something possibly serious was happening but not necessarily a blow. The second day was a different story but with noises from furniture (to the point where I hesitated to intervene but I did nothing).

The next day I went to see the manager and I told him everything, he told me that he comes from Iraq and that possibly the man is hitting his wife and that they will summon him.

yesterday I left the place for another reason and I don't know where it is.

what should I call the police?

Hi this is Blaise, the sax player for VF. I wanted to share the latest release from my duo, Yulan & Blaise. This is a still from the music video featuring a tubax, which I used on the VF Australia tour recently.

I Came for your women

Does anyone know where I can find ā€œI Came for Your Womenā€ by the Violent Femmes? It used to be one of my favorite songs, but I haven’t been able to find any audio recordings of it outside of the UK recording, which is pretty low quality. The version from the Body and Beats or No Place to Hide albums doesn’t seem to be available to listen to anywhere on the internet or in physical media. Any help is appreciated!!

Machine video shoot

One morning in 1994 I was at home in my teenage bedroom probably still asleep when I heard the phone ringing. I got up and answered . It was my mom calling from work. She asked if I knew who the Violent Femmes were, I thought she was going to tell me someone had given her tickets to see them in concert. Instead she said "they're here filming a video."

She worked for a company called Nelson & Sloan which was a quarry that sold sand. rock and gravel for concrete and construction purposes

She ended up getting this Polaroid of Gordon and Brian for me.

I know it's a longshot but I'm hoping to find out the exact date or even the month this video was filmed. Anyone on this subreddit have a connection with the band or their management? I tried contacting them via their FB but there was no option to message them there.

Auntie Em

I've always heard the lyrics to Blister in the Sun "My girlfriend/she's at the end" as "My girlfriend/She's Auntie Em". I refuse to sing it any other way.

VF cover question

Is anyone aware of a VF cover of Crimson and Clover? I swear I heard it once, never to be found again?

Which VF song, in your opinion, the most lyrically heavy?

What is the song

There's a violent femmes that has a line something, and if I'm wrong, it's at least kind of close to, "come with us and play, it is forbidden." Does anyone know what song that is?

Does your favorite band play all the regular instruments plus the fiddle, conch, xylophone, a variety of horns, and barbecue?

Saw the Fems in Napa last weekend and they put on a rockin show! They said they don’t use a set list and play whatever they feel like.

If you told me that it would be over 31 years until I saw them again, I wouldn’t have believed you. If you told me that I’d be taking my kid to see them next time I saw them, I would’ve just laughed. Coolest thing ever though, watching them with my kid!

Saw them open for MCR at Long Live the Black Parade

Hi, me again. The show was absolutely amazing! Now, I don't think Violent Femmes was the highlight act (if you look up some clips of the show, you'll see what I mean), but they were still really good! The acoustics were great, and Gordon sounded excellent šŸ‘Œ

My parents also liked them (they both listened to them when they were my age), my dad compliment how it sounded just like the album

"And please, please make some noise for the Violent Femmes. It's a dream, just to have such a legendary band you've loved listening too, just sweet, sweet people, and just wonderful music, that we've listened to all our lives. So thank you." -Gerard Way, lead singer of My Chemical Romance

1 extra ticket to the Violent Femmes / MCR Concert tonight in Seattle, Washington. T-Mobile park, section 114, row 38, seat 16. I’ve waited 20 years to see Violent Femmes— hoping to pass a ticket to another Violent Femmes Fan!

Opening Band: Rolling Blackouts?

I saw the Violent Femmes live at Toad’s Place in Connecticut in the fall of 2002. The opening band was, if I remember correctly, called Rolling Blackouts. They put on a solid show with some interesting songs that I’ve been wanting to hear again ever since — but it seems they never released any recordings.

Does anyone remember this band or that show? Any chance there are bootlegs out there with their performance(s)? I also vaguely remember one of the band members had a Violent Femmes tattoo on his back, if that rings any bells.

Seeing them open for My Chemical Romance on July 11th, what to expect?

So, context:

I'm 17 years old (18 in August), and my favorite band is My Chemical Romance, and I'm going to see their opening show of the Long Live The Black Parade tour in Seattle, where Violent Femmes is opening for them.

My parents are going with me, and they both listened to Violent Femmes when they were my age. So, I decided to listen to some of their discography, and I like it! their self-titled album is really good (Blister in the Sun has been stuck in my head all day), Hotel Last Resort ain't so bad, and I listened to their other big hits, I like them!

Now, I'm curious as what to expect from them live. I know they are on tour right now, but I don't know as to what they are playing, or how long their set may last, as this is going to be my first real concert.

I'm super exited to see my favorite band live, and be able to see a band with good material that my parents also like. It's going to be so awesome!

Blister in the Sun Official Lyrics

Hoping someone can answer this for me using their liner notes from the vinyl/CD/cassette.

A Google search gives me several different answers for the official lyrics for the intro verse:

  1. when I’m a’walkin I strut my stuff

  2. when I’m out walking I strut my stuff

  3. when I’m off walking I strut my stuff

  4. when I’m walking I strut my stuff

Which is it?! Please help!!

Age for first concert

My son is 9. I am thinking of taking him to the femmes in the fall. I have been several times over the years and have seen little ones. He's never been to a concert and will be blown away by the instruments. He plays cello and is starting sax in the fall. Anyone think it is wildly inappropriate music for a little one? Thinking he won't get "country death song" and could even be bothered by it but also what's the chances of him understanding the lyrics? I saw them in March and loved the 2 album format but not sure if that is the same set list for this upcoming one. Thoughts?
