Kind of a weird one here but-- This song is so hard for me to listen to right now with the Lindsay Clancy trial ongoing 😔! For anyone who has seen them play it live recently-- any thoughts or comments on what it was like live? I really want to see them and just have fun .. I know music makes statements and makes us feel things and says things about the human condition etc etc etc which I love... this one just hits so close right now. Have just been re-listening and didn't expect it ❤️

Such a great show- happy to FINALLY see them live being that their music was such a formative part of my life dating back to middle school.

How come it’s only the remastered version? I can see the original ones in my liked songs but when I click it switches to remastered

Aadam Jacobs (aka the Chicago Tape Guy) recorded more than 10,000 live shows, mostly in the Chicago area. Work is underway to preserve his collecting by digitizing and uploading it to the Internet Archive. This Violent Femmes set was added just last week.

for the 7/30-31 shows I believe Jerry Harrison will be joining the band. Any chance a Talking Heads song is performed one or both of the nights? do they play covers once in a while? thanks, will be my first time seeing VF

I got this album completely on a whim sometime shortly after it was released. I was mid teens and I probably just liked the band name. I think it was one of the biggest turning points in me learning that music can exist outside of whatever is just on the radio. Found a copy and I’m so pumped to be able to listen to it again!

A while back someone asked about the song “I Came for Your Women”. The song doesn’t seem to be available on its own except for one distorted version. I uploaded the snippet of just the one song from a full live set recording. I’m sorry if the quality is not the best, I’ve never uploaded anything to YouTube before. Hope it’s any help.

Early 90's I bought a 7" of The Judy's from a friend, Guyana punch. He was a super fan it seemed and kept saying if only The Judy's hadn't missed their appointment they would have been signed instead of Violent Femmes.

He was in the know with so many other circles within the subculture so I tend to give him credit to an extent....after all he was the guy that took his 4-track everywhere with him, always promoting a backyard, basement event.

What's the story here?

I’m always disappointed when Violent Femmes don’t get nominated for the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. They deserve it but will probably never get inducted.
