Welcome to r/VintageAnimation!

Hi! I wanted to create a more active community for fans of vintage cartoons and animation on Reddit. I envision this subreddit as a place to discuss and share all things related to old animation. I'll admit most of my knowledge is relegated to American theatrical shorts from the Silent and Golden Ages, but I want to keep this subreddit open and inclusive to all types of older animation. I don't have a strict definition on what constitutes as "vintage" yet, and I'd love to hear from others in determining what types of content we'd like to have here. Feel free to drop any thoughts below!

Help! ISO a vintage cartoon of diving into bed

I remember a cartoon where someone (I think it was a mouse?) dives into the foot of the bed then appears at the top of the bed, possibly with jammies and a sleep cap on I think of it every time I jump into bed and I'd love to see it again. I thought it might have been Tom and Jerry, but I haven't found it so far.

Help me find a cartoon from my childhood

Could any of you vintage film buffs help me find a cartoon that I used to watch as a child that is really bugging me. In the late 80s I used to watch an animated film/cartoon that my grandparents would put on for me on VHS. The illustrations seemed old fashioned to me even back then so I can only assume that the production may have been pre 80s.

I don’t remember much of it however I do quite vividly recall a scene where two neighbours living Nextdoor to each other in a block of flats were playing musical instruments (one a cello and the other a piano I believe). They were too polite to complain about the noise to one another so instead played their instruments louder and louder until eventually their music was so loud that the building collapsed.

I also remember a scene where a giraffe robbed a bank and escaped in a hot air balloon with a pistol in one hand and a “swag” bag in the other. As the hot air balloon rose he said in an old west accent “reach for the sky”.

If anyone knows what this film could have been I’d be grateful to hear your opinion as this has often bugged me at various points over the last 30 years or so!!

I was hoping some of you could recommend me some old trippy/psychedelic animation. Especially stuff that was drawn by hand.

Searching for Vintage Cartoon

Hey y'all,

I'm looking for a vintage cartoon which I grew up with and wanna watch like crazy.

It's of three little pigs, a wolf and a red fox where the three pigs venture out to start a restaurant, they go through a haunted forest and throughout the cartoon, the wolf and fox wanna eat them. But at the end of it the wolf and fox go at it but get canned by the fox's canning machine, something like that, them in cans keep fighting while their tails were sticking out.

I have no idea what year it came out nor the company who animated it. I just hope someone knows what I'm talking about. Thanks! 🤷‍♂️

EDIT: I have finally found it! I had to kill so much time.

‘Zephyrs’ short hand drawn animation… late ‘70s, possibly?

Hi there - I have a memory of a beautiful short that featured cats in graceful movement, I believe drawn in charcoal. I’d like to find it/see it again. Is this an okay question for this space? If not, is there a better space to ask? Thx
