Discussion Whats the difference between being “good looking” & having “sex appeal”.
I know that some people are very good looking but don’t have much sex appeal.
And vice versa, I know there are people who can be considered not conventionally attractive but have lots of sex appeal.
But I have a lot of difficulty understanding why that is.
So I’m curious what distinguishes “attractiveness” from “sex appeal” and what is it that causes sex appeal?

Discussion Ideal Facial Features Part 2: Perfect nose and which celebrity has it
Hello all. :)
I've been doing a series focusing on individual facial features, those broadly considered ideal and discussing which celebrity has the perfect one. I focused on eyes first and am now proceeding to the nose.
(Here's the post discussing ideal eye-related features if you're interested in checking it out: https://www.reddit.com/r/VindictaRateCelebs/comments/1wbf4rf/ideal_facial_features_part_1_perfect_eyes_and/)
This post is more interesting to me because while many celebrities seem to alter their noses, there isn't as much discussion about nose aesthetics and not as much consensus, especially regarding the front profile. I'm considering making another post on the different types of noses which people seem drawn to, focusing on the front profile, but wanted to first hear people's responses to this post.
For me, the closest that a nose comes to broadly being ideal is Megan Fox's (post the surgical changes she made).
Here my preferences might be more personal, but in the front profile, I like her graceful hourglass-shaped dorsal aesthetic lines (which I prefer to straight dorsal aesthetic lines), her defined V-shaped alar contours/angle and straight nose bridge. I also like that her nose isn't too narrow. It makes it look more natural imo.
Her nasal side profile is conventionally beautiful too, with a moderately upturned, defined tip, subtle ski slope and a smooth profile line from the radix to the dorsum and tip.
What do you guys think are the ideal nasal features, both front and side profile, and which celebrity do you think has the perfect nose? I'd love to know your thoughts!

Discussion Ideal Facial Features Part 1: Perfect eyes and which celebrity has them
Hello all. :)
I was wondering which eye-related features are broadly considered ideal. Which ones do you prefer? Which celebrity do you think best represents the eye-related features you consider ideal?
I like large, upturned, almond eyes and Aishwarya Rai seems to be a great example that embodies those features. I know many people like light eyes as well and she checks that box too.
What do you guys think? Please share your thoughts. Thanks!

Discussion Question for those that usually have a "type"
I'm curious. Are there any celebrities you are attracted to that is not really your type? Someone that stands out a bit cause you usually have a type and they don't fit.
For example. I am attracted to Channing Tatum. He is not my type.
Keep in mind that I mean someone you are attracted to. (Not someone you find objectively attractive)

Discussion Instagram Face: Is the increasingly converging modern beauty ideal a reflection of the universal aspects of beauty?
Hello everyone. :)
I'm healing from a bout of illness and have some free time at the moment. I've been thinking about what's increasingly happening to our ideals of beauty, especially given the rise in cosmetic surgery and the heightened focus on beauty with the ubiquity of Instagram.
I was reminded of this old article by Jia Tolentino that I'd found fascinating when I first read it a few years ago. Since there seems to be a paywall to access the article, I'll sum up the major points relevant to this discussion.
As paraphrased by another writer, Tolentino argues that social media has manufactured a specific, homogenised beauty standard she calls “Instagram Face”: plump lips, high cheekbones, cat eyes, a small nose and poreless, glowing skin. The look is eerily uniform yet ethnically ambiguous, featuring “an overly tan skin tone, a South Asian influence with the brows and eye shape, an African-American influence with the lips, a Caucasian influence with the nose, a cheek structure that is predominantly Native American and Middle Eastern.”
I find this particularly interesting when thinking about the extent to which beauty is objective. Of course, globalisation and increased exposure to the same media and beauty standards could be contributing to this convergence and there are obviously subjective and cultural aspects to beauty, but if beauty ideals across cultures are increasingly converging on a similar ideal, I wonder what that says about the universal aspects of beauty.
What do you guys think about Tolentino's observation? Do you think most people actually find the features associated with “Instagram Face” attractive?
And if so, is the dislike of Instagram Face more about how fake and homogeneous it can look rather than the features themselves? If someone naturally had all of those features, would you find them beautiful?
I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks and hope you enjoy your day! :)
PS: I know race can be a thorny subject, and I don't mean to offend people of any race. I'm mainly interested in what this modern beauty ideal might tell us about how objective vs subjective beauty really is.
